With the 2019 CrossFit Open just around the corner, you won’t want to miss Horizon Physical Therapy’s Functional Dry Needling body tune-up session! On Saturday, February 16th, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, Dan McGowan, DPT and Jimbo Wood, MSPT, will be onsite at CrossFit Liberate providing individual, 15-minute dry needling treatments to allow your muscles and joints to perform at their optimal ability! What is Functional Dry Needling, and how would one know if they would benefit? Great question. Functional Dry Needling is the use of a small gauge needle, inserted into trigger points in muscle tissue, to induce a functional change in joint range of motion, muscle recovery, and flexibility. If appropriate for the body region being dry needled, Intramuscular Electrical Stimulation may be attached to the needles for the goal of re-educating the muscle’s ability to contract and relax in a healthy way. CrossFit Liberate is proud to announce the launch of our 2019 CrossFit Kids program, starting May 21st and running for eleven weeks through August 3rd. Classes are every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. TWO AGE GROUPS: -Ages 5 to 9 will enjoy 45min classes at 9:45am on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 11:15am on Saturdays. - Ages 10 to 15 will enjoy 60min classes at 10:30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at Noon on Saturdays. COST: $80 Per Month Unlimited $60 For a 5 Class Pass $15 For a Single Drop-in Class ABOUT: CrossFit Kids is a method of teaching CrossFit to children of all ages. Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency, and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translate to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement. CrossFit Kids is meant to be BIG fun for all ages. Broad-Inclusive-General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. Further, the needs of second graders and high-school varsity wrestlers differ by degree and not kind; the program is scalable for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids.
