Photo by @edkashi. Lama Salfity attends the Community College of Applied Science and Technology, part of the Hamas run Islamic University in Gaza City, Gaza, Palestine, on March 25, 2008. Due to strictures of dress code, she must wear a hijab to attend classes even though she is Christian. She waits for class to begin with young Muslim women. Check out @homestorytellers, a new nonprofit I am happy to be involved with, as they are joining photojournalists and filmmakers together to use visual storytelling to amplify solutions to human migration issues. #immigration #migrants #photojournalism #documentary #timeisnow #refugees #ngo #nonprofit #npo #asylum #hijab #tech #university #student #gaza #palestine #muslim

Photo by @edkashi Rice farmers prepare their field for planting by using zebu (cattle) to soften the muddy earth so the young rice shoots will take hold deeper in the soil. This is an ancient Malagasy tradition called magnosy. Local villagers fish in the Anony Lake, which is an estuary fed by the ocean, 2010. They are fishing using a trawling method with mosquito nets provided by USAID. Trawling is destructive due to the amount of by-catches which further deplete the lake’s fish stocks. Another resource of Madagascar, sisal rope, is used with their nets.
