We’ll complete our time together practicing restorative yoga with love sound healing by @cindymeiri to help ring in the season of balance. Yoga retreats can provide a safe space to heal while releasing the stress and tension we often carry. Thank you Tom for sharing your experience from our retreat last spring! 🙏🏽
“In your regular classes, you certainly evoke a feeling of calmness and well-being, but it's at your retreats that your healing gift really comes out. During your classes at LMB, I could feel the tension and anxiety that I normally carry in my body releasing and vacating, so that by the end of the weekend, I felt noticeably calmer and happier. I've been on several retreats, and you are the only teacher I've encountered with such a great ability to soothe the agitation in my soul, so I want to convey my sincere gratitude for the work that you do. Thank you!” Tom M. 📸: @morganshidler at Land of Medicine Buddha

If you ever wondered why I ask folks to meet someone new in class and on retreats... Thank you J for sharing the depth of your experience at our Tulum retreat! 🙏🏽
“When retreat time came, I was mostly excited about going on vacation to Mexico. I just wanted to lay on the beach and read my book, far away from my commute, my desk, my roommates, and San Francisco’s fog. I wasn’t thinking of community and I honestly wasn’t thinking that much about yoga- I hadn’t been practicing regularly before the trip. But within hours of arriving at the beautiful Maya Tulum resort I realized that this would be an experience beyond just a vacation. Estee is a special person, and the group she brought together became a supportive, fun community of friends. It was totally organic- no cheesy team building or circle time- but by the end of the week we’d had so many great conversations, experienced adventures together, laughed a lot, and shared some of the deepest, most connected yoga I’ve ever practiced. I’d never understood the ‘turn to someone you don’t know and say hello’ ritual, but I get it now. Practicing in a community, in a beautiful place, in a different context, did wonders for my practice, my sense of how much I love and need other people, and my life. I came back to the city genuinely renewed and refreshed. It was the perfect vacation.” – J.G. at Tulum, Quintana Roo
From the Ayurvedic perspective, Flow and Restore is the perfectly balanced practice, with just enough mindful movement to produce a light sweat and time for deep rest, restoring our vitality and clearing the clutter of the mind. See you today and every Monday/ Wednesday at 4pm @laughinglotussf! DM to come for your first class as my guest. ☮️💟🕉 at Laughing Lotus Yoga SF
It’s unlikely I’ll ever rock a handstand in the middle of the room for more than a couple seconds without some assistance. We make choices about how we spend our time and I’ve been choosing to practice restoratives, meditation and mantra more consistently than holding inversions without support these days. Being chill is my nature and that is all good with me. Handstands are more fun with yogi friends anyway. #tbt to working with wonderful assistants on retreat @haramarasayulita in April demonstrating how we hold each other up as we flip our perspectives! 🤸🏾♂️💜🙏🏽

Her “Flow and Restore” class is just the yummiest. at Laughing Lotus Yoga SF
Ever been in a Yoga class where the teacher told you to find your edge, or even push past it? For years I believed that working towards a perceived edge made me a good student and was how my yoga asana practice would advance. Oh hey ego. ☺️ Now I’m much more interested in finding the stability and sweetness of not pushing. That generally means working within 20-50% of where my body can ultimately stretch, and spending more time strengthening. It’s been liberating to give up pushing and over-stretching, to not be painfully sore the next day. Most “advanced” postures have lost their appeal as I’ve come to appreciate how much better it feels to move in a functional way. ✌🏽
