We asked our #FFSYoga teacher’s about their favourite yoga/pilates poses. @audspilates says a reverse plank is one of hers. She love the challenge of this pose, and how it requires you to deeply stabilise through your centre, plus the openness in the chest. DO YOU HOOK THE GOLF BALL? ❌ — A common cause of hooking the golf ball is early extension in the downswing, as it causes the club to drop under the swing plane. People who fail the overhead squat screen are at a likely risk of early extending during their golf swing. If someone isn’t comfortable in squatting, it would make sense that they struggle to stay in posture throughout a fast rotational movement which the golf swing is. — Both a fail in the overhead squat screen and early extension can be caused by any of the following issues: - Poor ankle mobility - Poor hip internal and external rotation - Poor trunk strength - Poor shoulder stability - Poor lat mobility — With the Building Stronger Golfers small group program at FFS, you will be screened and trained by TPI certified strength coaches to highlight the strength/mobility issues that are holding back your game. Yoga is a form functional fitness, it moves your body in the ways it was designed to move to help ensure that it keeps functioning properly. For example, in yoga you use both large and small muscles and move in many directions (twisting, arcing, etc.). Yoga tones muscles all over your body, in balance with each other. It also increases muscle endurance because you typically hold any given pose for a period of time and repeat it several times during a yoga class. Boat pose - Navasana is a compact pose that requires you to draw everything toward your center. The abdomen moves toward the spine, the spine moves forward to support the front of the trunk, the shoulder blades move down and in toward the chest, while the chest spreads, and the arms and legs stay firm.
