Do you like humor? • L. Andrés Esteban (ES) @landresesteban Romantic Mooning • Winner Open Call, Helsinki Photo Festival 2018, exhibited at the International pavilion in Kalasatamanpuisto. • L. Andrés Esteban is a Spanish artist devoted to both photography and humor. She obtained her Master of Fine Arts degree in 2012 at University of Castilla-La Mancha (Cuenca, Spain) and complemented her training at Center of Advanced Technologies (Zaragoza, Spain), Kansas City Art Institute (Missouri, USA) and Reykjavík Museum of Photography (Reykjavík, Iceland). Her professional interests have historically included the relationship between photography and illustration, the multiple uses of vegetables as subjects and, in general, creating understandable images that make people smile. In more recent times, an increasing dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in both the circuits of the Fine Arts and the society at large has been exerting its influence and changing her motivation and the messages she tries to convey, if not her approach towards imaging. • See more at: http://helsinkiphotofestival.com/landres/#helpho #helpho18 #helphoto #helphoto18 #helsinkiphotofestival #helsinkiphotofestival2018 #helsinki #teurastamo #kalasatama #kalasatamonpuisto #suomi #finland #photography #winneropencall #photographyfestival #fineartphotography #photographer #photographylovers #ig_finland #myhelsinki #visithelsinki #valokuvaaja #valokuvaus #finland_photolovers #humor #blackandwhitephotography #spanishphotographer #landresesteban #romanticmooning #love at Helsinki

The moment where reality and fiction blur boundaries and coexist in the mind in a recreation of two parallel worlds that conform our identity. Where reminiscences of the past are mixed with frustrations, imaginary ghosts and appellants fears head toward us to a future of changing contours. Fragments of life staged at night, in the complicity of night lights of the city or in the apparent calm of anonymous rooms.” - Oskar Alvarado • See more at: http://helsinkiphotofestival.com/oskar-alvarado/#helpho #helpho18 #helphoto #helphoto18 #helsinkiphotofestival #helsinkiphotofestival2018 #helsinki #teurastamo #kellohalli #kalasatama #suomi #finland #galleriafutura #photographylovers #photography #photographyfestival #fineartphotography #photographer #ig_finland #myhelsinki #visithelsinki #valokuvaaja #valokuvaus #finland_photolovers #thisisfinland #oskaralvarado #oskaralvaradophotography #insomnia #love at Helsinki

Merry Christmas to everyone! And we keep sharing amazing works of the winners of Helsinki Photo Festival open call 2018. • Klaus Vedfelt (DK) @vedfelt Obsolete • Winner Open Call, Helsinki Photo Festival 2018, exhibited in the Nordic Village at the Danish pavilion in Teurastamo. • Klaus Vedfeldt (b. 1980) is a Danish photographer who has won multiple awards since 2005. His most recent achievement include the American Photography Award and a feature in BlackBook. His studio is located in the centre of Copenhagen. He works with light in a passionate and detailed manner, aiming to create cinematic portraits and moods in addition to large conceptual productions. Klaus travels the globe pursuing personal projects as well as fulfilling commissions for clients like Audi, Ikea, Samsung, HSBC and the Royal Danish Ballet among others. • The Obsolete is a conceptual project executed in collaboration with Laura Catten as the art director and Jane Marshall Whittaker as the costume designer. The hybrid outfits created through the combination of folkloric costumery and the modern day tech make a statement about the speed in which we are progressing, what we are worshipping, and how these things become obsolete but similarly are held in a nostalgic reverence. The images were taken in a limestone mine in order to put the objectives in the timeless and generic surroundings in contrast to the very time-specific technology. • See more at: http://helsinkiphotofestival.com/klaus-vedfelt-2/#helpho #helpho18 #helphoto #helphoto18 #helsinkiphotofestival #helsinkiphotofestival2018 #helsinki #teurastamo #statenskunstfond #kalasatama #suomi #finland #photographylovers #photography #photographyfestival #fineartphotography #photographer #ig_finland #myhelsinki #visithelsinki #urbanlife #valokuvaaja #valokuvaus #finland_photolovers #thisisfinland #thisisdendark #danishphotographer #klausvedfelt

Nuno Andrade (PT) @nuno_m_andrade Ginjal • Winner Open Call, Helsinki Photo Festival 2018, exhibited at the International pavilion in Kalasatamanpuisto. • Nuno Miguel Andrade (b. 1974) lives in Almada and works in Lisbon, where he combines his personal projects with his work as an architect. He studied photography at Maumaus (1993-95) and at the Atelier de Lisboa (2014-16). In the last years, he has been developing a documentary work, exploring the places and the people that inhabit the city where he lives. His work has been exhibited in Lisbon, Braga, Vila Franca de Xira, New Delhi and Goa. • “Floresta do Ginjal was the most famous restaurant on the pier of Ginjal, in Cacilhas. Since it first opened, in the ’40s, it became the meeting point between the two banks of the Tejo river, an undeniable choice for several lunches, parties and weddings. It has completed its cycle. The intense life is followed by decline and, inexorably, death. Four decades later, in the ’80s, it has closed its doors. The doors haven’t been opened again. Without it, the whole pier lost its former brightness. Returning in each tide, dreams that live beyond time persist and emerge in the lives of the ones holding them. The old restaurant is reborn in the form of a ballroom. It’s a magical and mysterious place, populated by fascinating characters: Lovers, dreamers, loners, eternal seducers. They all share a time that only exists there. This work intends to portrait a place, that is part of my memory and part of the city I grew up in. Travelling to a time that was not mine, but to which I have gained access. Real lives are justified and extended in the dream. Simple desires, common ambitions. Deceiving loneliness, finding love. Dreams packed by the melodies that resonate from the pier of Ginjal.” - Nuno Andrade • See more at: http://helsinkiphotofestival.com/nuno-andrade/#helpho #helpho18 #helphoto #helphoto18 #helsinkiphotofestival #helsinkiphotofestival2018 #helsinki #teurastamo #suomi #finland #photography #photographyfestival #fineartphotography #photographer #myhelsinki #visithelsinki #valokuvaaja #valokuvaus #finland_photolovers #portugesephotographer #portugal #NunoAndrade

Marco Marzocchi (IT) @marcomarzocchi Oyster • Winner Open Call, Helsinki Photo Festival 2018, exhibited at the International pavilion in Kalasatamanpuisto. • Marco Marzocchi (b. 1974) is a photographic artist from Ferrera, Italy. His practice transgresses the mere photographic boundaries - he experiments with different film formats, mediums and dimensions, mixing them together, which allows him to narrate his stories. Through his work Marzocchi prefers posing questions rather giving answers. His works are metaphors transversing past, present and the unknown future. Marzocchi masterfully incorporates the "errors" inherent to analogue photography into his work, which designates his own style. • Oyster is a visual diary project created by Marco Marzocchi over the course of 10 years. He explains: “This work represents my experience in recovering and understanding my parents, their life and relationship towards myself. I never knew them well because they split when I was 6 years old, and they both died young. Drugs, addictions, jail and dysfunctional environment, these were constant elements. This work is focused on dealing with and replacing all the doubts and fears that I had. Exorcising the pain and searching for love.” • See more at: http://helsinkiphotofestival.com/marco-marzocchi/#helpho #helpho18 #helphoto #helphoto18 #helsinkiphotofestival #helsinkiphotofestival2018 #helsinki #teurastamo #contemporaryphotography #kalasatama #suomi #finland #photographylovers #photography #photographyfestival #fineartphotography #photographer #ig_finland #myhelsinki #visithelsinki #valokuvaaja #valokuvaus #finland_photolovers #thisisfinland #thisisitaly #italienphotographer #italienphotography #kalasatamanpuisto #marcomarzocchi
