So, somehow @kswiss thought it would be a good idea for me to be the face of a shoe. I mean, why not? I’ve already got a face for radio, amirite? 📻 👟 . Well, joke’s on me, because these things sold out and then sold out again when they got a new batch. I can only assume this is because they made so few that the handful purchased by my mom put the tally over the edge. . We (they) created all these very hip branding and social media resources, including the photo collage including my hairless cat, Momo. 🐈 The video posted here, though, is the blooper reel. While I think it’s great the video content we created for the ads did so well for the shoes, it felt way too self-important to post here. . So, in lieu of that, here’s an outtake reel with me winging it and flubbing, with a dash of man-boob sweat for good measure. 😓 💦 . Oh, and for those interested, you can find the shoes -they’re called “The Startup”- at kswiss.com and I’ll be posting more of me being fancy with them in my IG stories as well. . . . 📸 @ozenrique

So far I’m loving being a dad. As tempting as it is to insert a whole bunch of clichés here about how “it’s not easy,” etc, I’m going to resist, because by all accounts this is actually the ‘easy’ part. Besides, my wife is a superhero who has kept all of us alive and well by sacrificing all hope of getting a good night’s sleep. . After having a kid, a LOT of things I thought were important to me have been reprioritized. I know this is common knowledge and happens to us all when we pop out some offspring, but one thing I realized is that yes, while it’s great that you no longer care about what some knucklehead posts on your Instagram (the #irony is not lost of me here folks), it’s also very important not to accidentally DEprioritize yourself and your self-care. . In other words, hit the gym and don’t eat crap just because it’s easy and you’re exhausted. Don’t bring your laptop to bed and feel compelled zero out your inbox “because you can’t sleep anyway.” . The battlefield of parenthood is littered with the souls of parents who meant well, but sacrificed themselves on the altar of their child and ended up a little or a lot bitter as a result. I’m not saying it won’t happen to me, but if I can avoid becoming a shell of my former self while still making back for bath time, then I think I’m doing pretty good. 😎🤙🏼👶🏻 at San Jose, California

Don’t let the tiny bald head fool you. 😉 That noggin hides the mind of a hustler and some super sharp business acumen. . My man @agent_dp has a roster jam-packed with clients that are household names in their industries, from @magicjohnson and @dennisrodman to @hulkhogan and beyond. . ...but that’s not what’s impressive. What’s impressive is that he made millions trading baseball cards before he was old enough to vote. What’s impressive is his decades long journey to sobriety. What’s impressive is tying it all together while trying to keep it all together. . Come join us on the latest episode of The Jordan Harbinger Show with super agent Darren Prince. . I never know what to do in photos, and it seems like everyone else always does. Nothing highlights this deficiency quite like being in a photo with a celebrity the caliber of @troubleman31 and realizing that he can look both excited AND happy AND relaxed -all at the same time. . This, of course, just means that looking like you are completely chill and in control is the result of years of having no idea what you’re doing, faking it, and then finally getting it down to a science. I have this in front of a microphone, but clearly have several more years to go before I have it in front of a camera. . Fortunately, I think I did okay here, but some of that was probably due to the tequila that we drank during this episode of The Jordan Harbinger Show. . Let me know what you think in the comments...or don’t...you know, because I’m cool and relaxed and happy about that either way, naturally. at Los Angeles, California

Whenever I’m sitting down with a guest, there’s a silent exchange that happens where they decide how vulnerable they’re willing to be. This happens during the interview and changes over time. If I’m doing my job right, we get deeper without them feeling too exposed. . Today, @dennisrodman and I get deep, and you can see (and hear) us come up for air and lighten things up before getting back into it. . In this way, an interview is kind of like a dance with the guest. Although I can promise you that I’ve got far more ‘rhythm’ on the mic than I would on any dance floor. Props to Dennis for getting his hands dirty on this one. . Photo @eclipticphoto (and yes, that’s an IV drip he’s doing during the interview, because it’s Rodman, so of course, right?) at Mondrian Los Angeles Hotel

KIND OF A BIG DEAL. Not just the hair, but the author and now, the interview. . There’s a part of me as an interviewer that gets immense joy out of taking people away from their usual content or talking points and gets a real conversation going. I get giddy about it during and after -you can hear it in my voice. This is what happens when you put 20+ hours in to prepare for a one-hour interview. . When things flow like this, that’s when the whole game doesn’t feel like work, and I realize I have the greatest “job” in the world. . Come listen to an interview with Malcolm Gladwell unlike what you’ve heard from him before. Let me know what you think! . Photo: @eclipticphoto at San Francisco, California

So this was pretty awesome. I’m not a big sports fan, but any time you get an hour to hang out with a literal legend like @kobebryant you take the opportunity and you learn some shiz. . In this episode of The Jordan Harbinger Show, we learn a few keys, namely that having an alter ego to use in business and at “game time” (whatever that may mean to you), is key. We also learned that Kobe is as intense in the business of creativity as he was on the court. . Last but not least, we find out that Kobe loves @hilaryswank and @taylorswift (yes, really!) and models a lot of what they do in business and in creative pursuits. . Epic episode with the Black Mamba, available now anywhere you listen to podcasts. (Link in bio, duh) . 📸@eclipticphoto at Disneyland

Whenever I meet people who have built an amazing brand, career or business for themselves, it helps me relax a little. . It’s not that meeting amazing people isn’t motivating or lights a fire (under my arse or elsewhere— Quite the opposite). . It’s actually that they universally agree that it’s the process itself that matters. In other words, it’s HOW you get there, and not merely getting there in the first place that’s important. . Y’all might think this is cliche advice, and maybe it is. For me though, whenever I achieve anything, I tend to move the goal posts on myself in ways that diminish the victory and take the wind out of my sails. “Sure you made The NY Times Jordan, but you didn’t get the cover.” As ridiculous as it sounds, this is often the type of dialog I have in my head. “Sure you rebuilt The Jordan Harbinger Show in under 18 months, but imagine where you’d be if you had done xyz differently, or where you’ll be in 3 years!” . I’d never keep anyone in my life who spoke to me that way. None of this is healthy, and it’s a recipe for making sure everything you think you want is always just outside your grasp. Don’t do this to yourself. . Enjoy the process because, frankly, that’s all most of us have right now, isn’t it? ;) . I guess you could say it was a big week for us. Had a baby, made the New York Times (for the podcast, not the baby) 😂 . Lots of 💩 so far, and nowhere near enough sleep, but it’s been absolutely amazing. . Shout out to Momo the Cat who seems to have his paws in everything over here. . Sometimes my guests surprise me. Don’t get me wrong, I love to be surprised (as long as it’s a good surprise of course!) . My show prep and hosting follows what I learned in law school when preparing for mock (or real) trial: “never ask a question to which you do not already know the answer.” . That’s great for cross-examination, less so for a conversational podcast. . When you’ve got a great guest (and have done your prep) who can articulate concepts well and isn’t afraid to get their hands (or their image) dirty, that’s the recipe for a great interview. . Thanks so much to @chelseahandler for being really down to earth, open and vulnerable on this episode of The Jordan Harbinger Show (episode 216, link in bio) . 📸 @eclipticphoto at Los Angeles, California

It seems like more and more these days I’m getting to interview my childhood heroes and those that have played an integral part in who I am today as an educator. . LeVar Burton is an actor and fellow educator who first got a lot of us kids interested in reading, a habit that’s changed my entire life. There’s a reason that the most successful people read -a LOT! . @levar.burton also changed the national dialog about slavery with Roots, and is basically the “Black Mister Rogers” (I’m so happy I was able to coin that term!) . Really enjoyed recording this episode (213) of The Jordan Harbinger Show. It was so solid. . ...but you don’t have to take MY word for it! 📸@jenni319 at Los Angeles, California

The amount of preparation you do for a show matters the most. . Your skills as an interviewer matter a lot. . However, there’s a certain ‘X’ factor when it comes to having superstar guests who can riff on any subject, have a lot of personality and really seem to care about delivering a great interview. . Howie Mandel (@howiemandel), who’s been in the comedy game for over 40 years (as well as hosting ‘America’s Got Talent’ and ‘Deal or No Deal’), has this...in spades. . We spent the first 30 minutes setting up and hanging out in his crazy office with art and mementos EVERYWHERE. The place is practically a museum of television talk show and comedy memorabilia. We then did a 90+ minute show, followed by a hangout sesh watching some of the latest AGT highlights on Howie’s couch with him narrating why he made his decisions as a judge. This was truly a one-of-a-kind interview and experience, and is one of my favorite memories from The Jordan Harbinger Show to date. . I hope you all enjoy listening to and watching this episode as much as we all enjoyed creating it! . (Link in bio, natch’!) 📸 @eclipticphoto at Van Nuys, California
