‘You can’t start a fire without a spark.’ (10 points if you know the original singer of this song?👍🏻). It’s quite cheesy but we have a bit of a family song 😆. Jon and I have always liked this song, we played it at our wedding, and then when we were on our Pacific NW road trip in the summer it kept coming on the radio. I found it on Spotify (then a lady on here also recommended me a version by @johnadamsmusic which I love even more 💗) and we played it on repeat the whole time. Nowadays we play it most days, and often dance around with the kids, it’s become one of our favourite songs.
We have quite a big white blank space above our radiator in the kitchen and I had been looking for the perfect piece of art to put here. A while ago I stumbled across @telegramme, and both Jon and I loved their style. I got in touch with them to see if they’d make us a custom print with the lyrics on it (I paid full price, but just wanted to share them as I love it so much). I couldn’t be more thrilled with it. It’s personal, one of a kind and makes me smile every time I look at it. It’s the perfect thing to go on this wall.
Annual festive night out with my friends. We are going to a nice pub near us. My meal choices are soup, turkey and creme brulee and I can’t wait. I organised our meal this year (this never normally happens, even my friends were like are you ok what’s happened to you? 😬) and I can neither confirm nor deny whether I chose the place entirely dependent on if they had creme brulee as an option for pudding or not. 🎄🎄🎄👍🏻👍🏻😂(it’s the best pudding in the world, do you agree or disagree?)
AD It’s such a nice feeling sometimes when the kids are in bed and you can just relax. Since we have had our kitchen done Jon and I have started sitting in here while one of us cooks and it is such a cosy and sociable space. I think I have said before, but I don’t tend to drink much at home nowadays, although I do like the odd glass of wine every now and again (Sauvignon Blanc for me!). However Jon is a big wine fan and loves a glass or two (red for him though, we are incompatible wine drinkers 😉 ) We recently got sent a box from Virgin Discovery Wine Club and Jon was so excited to learn more about it. With the Discovery Wine Club you get sent a box of 12 specially selected top quality wines direct to your door every 3 months. It comes with a booklet with information about each of the wines, which is great if you are interested in learning more about them (a little Jon fact, before he got into his current profession he was a bar manager for many years, then he used to design wine and cocktail menus, so he is very in to learning more about them). It’s perfect that they are delivered straight to your door as well, as it means that there’s no rushing to the shop if you suddenly have visitors. Hope you all have a great evening. Cheers. PS I really was fascinated by that crisp. 😆@virginwines #virginwines #iwishshewouldlookatmethewayshelooksatthosecrisps
Last Thursday I did something a little out my comfort zone and appeared as a guest on my lovely friend @louisepentland’s podcast with the amazing @katiepiper_. Katie is someone I’ve admired greatly for a long time, so it was an honour to have been asked to do this. I was nervous for the first couple of minutes and then it felt like I was chatting to old friends.
I had a bit of a nightmare with all the trains being cancelled, so I ended up driving into central London which was slightly scary, but I felt I couldn’t let anyone down.😆
One thing that has come out of the podcast for me is that I need to work on my confidence. At the end Louise asks her guests if they have anything to plug and I said nothing. I always think it’s ironic considering I’m on social media, but I actually suffer from a lack of confidence. I guess confidence presents itself in different ways, I could chat in a group with absolutely no issues at all, but I’d get the fear if I had to present in front of a room of people. I have turned down most speaking things I have been offered over the years. I think I also put myself down a lot in order to somehow stay safe.
I never really ever imagined I’d be doing this nearly 9 years after first starting my blog, it’s changed so much. When I first started it no one had jobs from doing this, or got these kind of crazy opportunities. In 2020 I really am going to try and work on my self esteem, my confidence and also developing a thicker skin. I also need to work on my channels and post what I want to post, without feeling nervous about it. I think over the last year really I’ve felt a little lost, and I adore doing this so 2020 is the year to sort myself out.
Anyway a complete digression on a Monday morning. The podcast is fantastic, Louise has some amazing guests on there, and I definitely recommend you have a listen. 👍🏻
A nice quiet day here at home. Started off the morning making Christmas pancakes as part of our advent calendar treat for today. We made Snowman and Father Christmas ones. They were so excited to make them. The kids efforts looked like something out of a massacre 😉 but I reckon my Santa effort wasn’t too shabby (swipe to see) 😆.I recommend it as a simple easy thing to do with them over the festive period, we might make them for our breakfast on Christmas Day morning.
Also this is the first time we’ve all sat around and cooked together as a family, and bar the mess and carnage, is exactly what I imagined when we first started planning our kitchen renovation (and why we got an island big enough for 5 😆).
Spent the afternoon pottering around and organising the kitchen. It’s so nearly there, we are cooking in it and using it properly now, I just want to faff about with these shelves a bit more (as you can see there’s big gaps) and also find a couple of things to go on the walls. But I reckon that’s the most fun part. I’ll make sure a share a photo when it’s completely done. I’m beyond thrilled with every single bit of it. Hope you are all having a good weekend, we have just had dinner and are settling down to watch Strictly.

Their advent calendar treat for today was to have a Christmas sleepover in the playroom (by Christmas I mean that little tree there 😆). They are so excited. We’ve got a really chilled weekend this weekend. Tomorrow we’ve got the usual football and then we are going to have a diy and organising day. Then Sunday it’s much of the same. Does anyone have any nice plans? 💛
Adding subtle festive vibes to every corner. Got this star light last year and it’s back in its rightful place on the pink velvet chair I don’t like people sitting on. 😉 It’s brilliant as it acts as a deterrent over the festive period. Obviously over Christmas you have more guests and so there’s more danger of people thinking the chair looks a nice spot to settle down in. So the light is both pretty and practical. 😆Genius. The trees on the side are a new addition from amazon. *ps I’m obviously joking about the chair before anyone says anything. I don’t care if people sit on it. I just glare at them from behind my mulled wine the whole time. 😆
AD There’s a new cereal for you to enjoy in the mornings- @goodbellycerealuk . They recently sent me their range to try (GoodBelly is currently being stocked in Morrison's and Tesco’s but is coming to other retailers soon) and I am working with them to tell you all about it as it’s new to the UK. I am trying to eat a more varied breakfast in the morning (although I am so excited to actually be able to eat breakfast in our new kitchen very soon instead of little random areas of the house where there is no mess or dust!), and GoodBelly tastes delicious. Not only that it is also good for your gut health too*. It comes in two flavours- Blueberry, Banana and Pumpkin Seeds and Apple, Cranberry & Pumpkin Seeds. You can get it in @tescofood stores for £2 until 10th December.
What’s your everyday breakfast? Are you a cereal fan? Or more of a toast type of person? I like to try and mix it up to keep it interesting.
*GoodBelly is high in oat fibre which contributes to increased faecal bulk as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle.
I’m off out this evening. I got dressed up for once, in sequins no less. Makes a change from jeans and it is making me feel very christmassy. Although I’ve got a jumper to put on in case I’m too over dressed. 😆Grateful for friends like @larajoannajarvis who always look out for me and invite me along as their plus one. ❤️
Just took this photo and wasn’t planning on putting it on Instagram, but then I decided it needed a place here ❤️. We are doing an activity advent calendar each day, we’ve done it the last couple of years. The activities are mainly super simple things, like tonight’s was reading books in front of the Christmas tree. My three were just so excited over something so simple. Not sure why in front of the tree is more exciting than in bed where we normally read but there you go. I swear I love the festive countdown more than the actual day itself. ❤️
Welcome. Did anyone else put their Christmas decorations up yesterday? If not when do you do it? I always used to think we did it really early, but we’ve always done it on December 1st (or the nearest weekend to then), but I think it’s become a bit more popular to put them up earlier. I’ve still got friends and family who won’t put them up for another couple of weeks though. It feels so nice coming down to them and putting on the decorations. We put up our wreath yesterday too, I bought the wreath from John Lewis last year (wish I could make my own and considering I’m quite creative I thought I’d be good, but I tried once and it was utter shite 😆), and the lovely welcome sign I bought last year too from my favourite @morethan_just.
Hope everyone has a good Monday, I am going to try and be really productive as last week I was awful.
