||PERSEVERANCE✨|| What’s your mantra or your intention for your week? Setting a theme to your practice, day or week is an amazing way of getting your mind to focus on what you need to do. . An intention I’m constantly working with at the moment is “perseverance”. After injuring myself in rock climbing more than 3 weeks ago (cry! 🙈), I’ve been on a bit of a ride finding out exactly what’s going on with my body (noteably my left hip with a suspected torn Labrum - ouchie!!! 😭) Being in limbo waiting on MRI’s & test results, has meant I’ve never needed my commitment to my intention more than I do now. . My dear yoga teacher @celestpereirayoga put it so well today in class...🌺”Everything is going to be ok. Nothing stays the same” - this resonates not just for me & my injury but into the rest of the world & this journey we call life. . I guess what I’m trying to say is, know this... Whether you’re injured or just in a bit of a funk, this too shall pass. Every curve ball life throws at you is an opportunity to learn 📚I’m learning more & more about patience and perseverance with my body, which in turn will serve me longer term. Patience, perseverance & a whole lot of soul searching 🙏🏼 (not bad lessons in life to learn I might add 😏). Remember 👉🏼 This too shall pass. ||FRIDAY FUNDAY✨|| Because the most wasted of all days are ones without laughter 💕 We were sans kittens today as they’ve been to the vet to get their fluffy pom poms snipped 👀 So we flowed @methodmovement with our own make shift kittys 🐱🐱 & then some of us enjoyed high 5ing more than others 🖐🏼🤦🏼‍♀️ . ||ADIDAS BRICK LANE🌟|| So excited to get back in the @adidaslondon studio teaching #ToneandOM today 🤸🏼‍♂️ I’ll be here throughout the month so come say hi, get your sweat on & then we’ll yoga flow it out to take you off of your fight or flight mode & back into your day! 😊 . Can’t make it to class? Here’s your take home points for your training today.... 💫 Listen to your body it’s way smarter than you probably think it is. Hear when it needs rest, but also notice if it’s your mind giving up or your body. Push when you need to, but also never underestimate the value of rest. Honour your body with which it needs. 💫Be FUNCTIONAL in your training. I wish I knew this when in 1st started training! I’m learning the hard way now. So here it is for you...mobility and flexibility is PART of your training, not a nice bonus. Yes you may be able to get away with it for a while but it will catch up with you eventually & stop you training in the way you love to train. Build your foundations. Earn your progressions. 💫 Use all of the different directions of movement(plane of motions) with your training. In life we don’t just move forward & backwards (like in a lunge or squat) introduce diagonals (transverse planes) like curtsy lunges . Prepare the body for outside of the gym, whether for sport or day to day life. 💫Create a mind muscle connection, which muscle should be working? When we focus on that area it helps us to use the correct muscles. 💫Warm up properly! It’s NEVER worth skipping, mobilise, activate muscles like the glutes, shoulders and core. You’ll work twice as hard in the workout with the right muscle groups working. 💫 Correct imbalances in the body. Each body is different but a lot of us sit down a lot, stretch muscles that are tight (commonly hip flexors, quads & chest muscles), strengthen those that are long & weak (commonly glutes, core, hamstrings) . I’ll be banging on about this a lot in my classes (you’re welcome) & helping you to be functional in your training, using mobilising & activation techniques coupled with primal movement patterns. You’ll sweat but not necessarily just smack your body around mindlessly for 45 mins (mentioning no gym names 🙈 at adidas Studio LDN

||YOGA NEWBIE?🧘🏼‍♀️|| Are you new to yoga? Maybe finding it a little tricky to get into your groove with it? Here’s a few words that might spring to mind as you go into class - or at least I remember what sprang to mine when I 1st started! 🙄… . ✖️I’m scared, I’m nervous ✖️I have no idea what to expect ✖️I’m not flexible enough to be here ✖️I’m not as good as the person next to me ✖️Why is everyone breathing weirdly? ✖️Am I even in the right type of class to start with? ✖️Presumably we’ll just lay around stretching? . I say these things with humour 🙉 knowing that was ME for a pretty long time 😂 Anyone else feel a little intimidated to go to class? Heck I still get it in some classes 🤷🏼‍♀️ . ||SNOWY SATURDAYS❄️|| Us Brits are hilarious when it comes to the snow 🇬🇧 We’re so unprepared everything basically goes tits up & we just LOVE to talk about it 😂 You either love it or hate it. . In the vein of positive thinking 🙏🏼 so lovingly reminded to us at last nights @moveyourframe training with @andy_yogalinsky ❤️ Here’s some reasons to LOVE the snow & embrace it in all its glory... . ⛄️ It makes us all slow down. We can’t race around like nincompoops because we’ll skid around like Bambi on ice. So we slow down & we have time to breathe! ⛄️ It’s the perfect weather for snuggling down with loved ones & maybe spending that bit more time together vs racing off to the next thing. ⛄️ It’s FUN! Go be adventurous & get back in touch with your inner kid - we all take things a bit too seriously sometime, let’s PLAY! ⛄️ It encourages self practice (or home workouts) both of which are an amazing way of tuning into what your specific body needs, not what a whole class needs, just you. Listening in acutely to what your bodies telling you. . Remember it won’t last forever, everything is temporary 🤷🏼‍♀️ Learn to see the positives & embrace it for all its got. Happy mindset.
