Day two of Mr. Will Bush teaching at Micheal and Young fly shop. Will takes the time to answer all questions so that the students really understand the principles in his workshops. This weekend the students are tying a Jock Scott and Will took the time, to illustrate the details that go into keeping things neat and tidy when you get to the head of the fly. So many tips and techniques to learn, but Will makes it easy to understand.
Mr. Will Bush is making magic happen and teaching a course at M&Y this weekend. The participants are learning how to tie a Jock Scott.
Here is one that Pro-Staff Scott Norris just finished, this one was done in hand! His words are below about this fly...
The finished product. A Sherbrook tied on a John Saxton Harrison Bartlett 6/0. It's the first fly in hand that I've completed since tying a Lady Caroline while on the way to the Morice this past September. Thread control became an issue as I was mounting the wing, and I'll have to give it another go soon. Typically, I forgot the damn horns, which I was going to do with Scarlet Macaw instead of Ibis.
Anyway, there it is.
Here is another one done by Pro-Staff Linda Bachand. I always enjoy looking at her work. Flawless!
Here is a real jem done by Pro-Staff Linda Bachand. Here are her words about the pattern...
"CopperScotch" - an original design of mine tied with only Copper Pheasant feathers and dark Amgold crests on a 10/0 Phillips Ephemera hook by Byron Bjerke. The glow from the feathers is amazing and very dimensional when sunlight hits it. I used a dark Amgold crest across the center of the wings for a starburst effect. Lagartun's oval copper tinsels were used on the entire butted body. #lagartunltd
