Pretty close to what I expected Palermo to be like: cobbled streets, yelling vendors, rowdy crowds, and crumbling ancient buildings all around at Mercato Vucciria

Before we flew off to Italy we took a detour from our usual mountain scenery and went backpacking in the Channel Islands. I hadn't heard of this national park till a few days earlier, but the wide ocean views from our quiet campsite were wonderful at Channel Islands National Park

Upon our arrival at the crag, we learned the access road was closed due to construction. The town sits on a mesa above the cliffs, and we couldn't get down to the base. On our way out, we chat with some Italians that are wearing climbing helmets and they tell us there's a via ferrata somewhere down there - so of course, after some exploration, the via ferrata becomes our approach to the cliffs. What a crazy thing to find a wild and exposed via ferrata on the side of a mesa in the middle of Sardinia! And then we got to climb :) at Monteleone Rocca Doria

Sometimes the most interesting climb is also the most manufactured. Here's something different: climbing the perfectly symmetric crimps on the side of a quarry. The nice Italian man who proceeded to kick us out of this area maybe even slightly added to the charm at Monteleone Rocca Doria

When you have climbing shoes, everything looks climbable 😁 @marcomunizaga playing around on the boulders at Capo Testa. at Capo Testa

Sierra, I missed you! It's been weird not seeing you all summer. But you sure do look good with a dusting of snow. at Mount Emerson

It's proven that making faces when you climb makes the send 💯 better. at Red Rock Canyon Las Vegas

As a climber, canyoneering is basically the opposite of everything in used to: a slog to start, then sliding, rappelling, and squeezing to lose elevation in interesting ways. at Zion National Park

Rappelling through waves of sandstone. At this point we were still dry...📷 @arbitton at Zion Canyon

In case you were wondering what a slot canyon looks like from the top....sometimes it looks like gash in the earth! at Zion National Park

Sometimes you get lucky with the light and for 30 seconds it’s red and the rocks glow like you almost can’t believe. Zion, you keep delivering. at Zion Canyon

Zion from the west: overlooking the main canyon from the Kolob Terrace area. Still pretty, still red :) at Zion National Park

Something different — peakbagging in Zion, looking at North Guardian Angel. A fun scramble up one ridge for a nice view of a part of Zion I haven’t explored yet. . . . . . #zionnationalpark  #zion #utah  #hiking  #hikingadventures #hikingutah  #nationalpark  #ourwild #betteroutthere #wildme #makeadventure #goatworthy #wearethewild #mountainsarecalling #mountainpeopleunite #outbackcollective #natgeoproject #natgeoyourshot #freshairandfreedom at Zion National Park

It IS possible to go cragging on high quality rock, 1hr from Denver, and not see a single other climbing party. Thanks Derek for showing me around the South Platte!

When in Colorado....do as the locals do and climb some 14ers. Even if the route up ends up being far from exceptional, you might get some nice views on the way in 😉 . . . . . . . #coloradical #14ers #betteroutthere #wildme #makeadventure #goatworthy #wearethewild #mountainsarecalling #mountainpeopleunite #visitcolorado #ourwild #outbackcollective #natgeoproject #natgeoyourshot #freshairandfreedom at Gray's and Torrey's Peak, Colorado
