The calendar read late June when I took this photo, but the spring bloom had just started here in the mountains on the south side of Grand Teton National Park. These aren't the sheer cliffs you usually associate with the park, but it just goes to show there's a lot more to see, like this beautiful rolling taken June 20, 2011 at Grand Teton National Park

The National Museum of Prague building seem from Wenceslas Square on a fall evening. Even in late October, there's still a lot of tourists in Prague, though I found the crowds manageable for the most part, certainly better than the summer horror stories I've heard. Late October also brings a lovely taste of fall color to an already beautiful city. Photo taken October 26, 2015. at Wenceslas Square

The ornate interior of St. John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta, Malta. Here, you can see everything that makes Baroque cathedrals so dramatic - the flooring, the ceiling frescoes, and all of the bronze cladding throughout. So why the odd name? When the church was built in 1577, Malta already had an official diocese in Mdina. It wasn't until 1820 that the Archbishop received permission to use St. John's as an alternative see, but the powers that be also didn't want to completely remove Mdina from its prominence. Thus, St. John's was given the title "Co-Cathedral" to signify the two official cathedrals of the island nation. Photo taken July 1, 2015. at Saint John's Co-Cathedral

Didn't have to go far to capture this epic sunset last Friday. I stepped out my front door, and a storm front just happened to be blowing in right as the sun was setting in the opposite direction. Naturally, in typical Texas fashion, the storm produced about 2 minutes of drizzle before fizzling out ๐Ÿ˜‚ at Plano, Texas

I had some extra time after my meeting in Lincoln last week, so I walked over to the Nebraska State Capitol Building to take a few photos. The building certainly stands out in Lincoln; at 400 feet tall, it's the tallest building in the city by far, and can be seen up to 20 miles away. In fact, the city strictly limits the height of new buildings so the Capitol remains the tallest in the city. It is also the 3rd tallest building in Nebraska, and 2nd tallest state house, behind the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge. The Art Deco-style limestone building was completed in 1932, and the names of all 93 Nebraska counties are inscribed in the base. Photo taken September 5, 2018. at Nebraska State Capitol Building

We actually work very hard to keep our son off of iPads/iPhones. Of course, when you're trying to get everyone posed for a photo, it's amazing how those little hands can find a phone that's been unattended for 3 seconds. ๐Ÿ˜‚ June 6, 2018, along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. A scenic drive that matches the accolades, especially now in the fall. And a great place to take the family. at Shenandoah National Park

A pair of young spotted hyenas help groom the clan's matriarch, right on the side of the road in South Africa's Krueger National Park. Grooming is a very important part of hyena life, much as it is for cats, and members of hyena clans can often be spotted giving each other a bath. Not exactly the behavior I expected from such a killing machine! Photo taken April 21, 2008. at Kruger National Park

A small section of Lower Manhattan behind the Brooklyn Bridge, with the real star of the show behind - a sunset producing some pretty ridiculous #cloudporn in the evening sky. I missed a sunburst behind the Empire State Building a little earlier, so I was glad to catch this view. It seems like the last few years, summerlike heat has stuck around like an unwanted guest right into October, but for a (pleasant) change, we've actually been in the 70s the last two days here in Texas, which is really getting me in a fall mood. I've showcased the Talimena Scenic Byway straddling Oklahoma and Arkansas a few times already, but it truly is one of my favorite fall day trips come November. One of the most interesting parts of the byway are its microclimates. Here, just across the border in Arkansas, a much windier, drier, colder area exists at the top of the ridge, providing a brushy landscape as opposed to the lush colors on either side. But you can still see the color-filled forest in the distance. Photo taken November 17, 2015. at Talimena National Scenic Byway

โœˆ๏ธ Sunday Planeporn โœˆ๏ธ . Airline: Delta Air Lines . Aircraft: Boeing 767-400ER . Location: Barcelona - El Prat Airport (BCN) . Date: April 29, 2018 . The Boeing 767 is one of the aircraft maker's most successful products, with 1,116 delivers to date. But the stretched -400 variant is quite rare. Only 37 entered commercial service, all with Delta and Continental (now United). at Barcelonaโ€“El Prat Airport

My buddy @friendlyskies1k has been telling me for a long time that I need to give KC-style BBQ a try. So naturally, a few days ago, I flew to KC for a meeting in Omaha just to make a pit stop ๐Ÿ˜‚ Slap's came highly recommended. The ribs were amazing. Burnt ends in KC are different (much more meaty) than the ones here in Texas, and they made a fine DIY sandwich with some bread and jalapeรฑos. The hush puppies were awesome, though the cheesy corn didn't do anything for me. Needless to say the resulting overstuffed belly made for an interesting 2 1/2 hour drive to Omaha afterwards ๐Ÿ˜ at Slap's BBQ

Another shot from my recent trip to Antwerp. These are the "guildhalls" surrounding the Grote Markt in the city center. As the name suggests, these served as the offices for various guilds (trades) that operated in a particular city. These magnificent buildings date to the 16th century, and in Belgium and the Netherlands, many of them were built in particularly ornate designs to show off the guild's status in the city. Some scary looking skies over the fields of northeast Kansas yesterday afternoon. Don't worry, I wasn't about to have my own Wizard of Oz moment; it was just some rain. This corner of Kansas was much more scenic than I expected, full of rolling hills mixed in with cornfields. Photo taken yesterday, along Highway 73 near the town of Hiawatha, not far from the Nebraska border. at Hiawatha, Kansas

The Kansas City skyline from the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, with an ominous looking storm in the background, from Kaw Point Park on the Kansas side. Welcome to meteorological fall! Fall colors are still a couple of months away this far south, but it's never too early to start thinking about them, right? I like finding autumn colors in unexpected places, and I think this one fits the bill. The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in southwest Oklahoma is an oasis of flora and fauna in the otherwise flat prairie you find in this part of the world. Around the first or second week of November, the hills come alive with bright reds and golds. About 3 1/2 hours northwest of Dallas, or 2 hours southwest of Oklahoma City - an easy weekend getaway from either. Photo taken November 11, 2017. at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge
