Brought to us by award-winning producer @fusion_boutique_presents, committed to bringing audiences quality entertainment and unique experiences in atmospheric spaces.
Blue Mountains based Rani Brown is a film maker, visual artist, teacher and mother. Rani is committed to telling positive stories of social and environmental change through documentary photography and film and has been involved with environmental protest work for all her adult life through blockading, working with NGOs and community groups.
In her work Rani documents social movements that are evolving in response to environmental concerns and traces the interconnecting threads of personal and environmental and political concerns, plus the stories of those advocating for change.
Rani’s film, Courage For The Long Haul was accepted into the Byron Bay International Film Festival (Oct 2019) and the upcoming Australian Independent Film Festival, Brisbane in November.
The film shares insights from two women who have been key players within a dynamic social movement in the Northern Rivers NSW. They discuss processes that united a community beyond political affiliation to help protect our life support systems on Earth. They talk about their roles within a movement of untold thousands and what sustains them for the long haul against global corporations and governments who are doing their bidding. “When we can recognise what is at stake: bio-diversities lost, dispossessed peoples, extinctions and climate change; when we have the courage to really arrive in how it is right now in our world, we open to creativity and to intelligence. The interconnecting threads of grief can connect us with the wider ecological crisis and from an authentic space we can make choices about how we bring forth actions to protect our world. When we open to how things are, we open to creative possibilities.” Click the link in bio to see Rani’s work on Vimeo, or check out her profile to follow her pursuits at @frogmouthfilms at Blue Mountains National Park

Inspired by the rapid weather changes of the Blue Mountains and the bustle of Sydney streets, Blackheath-based musicians @whoamulemusic consistently deliver a performance characterised by both space and energy. With rich experience earned in bands such as Catgut and Golden Whistler, Whoa Mule puts a kick into old time music with country ballads, original songs, and driving triple fiddle dance tunes.
This Friday night Whoa Mule will be special guests to @missyraines - the most awarded Bassist in Bluegrass Music in concert at Hotel Blue's intimate venue ‘Live at the Attic’ in Katoomba.
With a smoky and seductive alto, 8 Time International Bluegrass Music Association Bass Player of the Year, Missy Raines heads up an all-acoustic ensemble. The musical territory the trio covers is broad and the compass is set by Raines, planted right in the centre of the stage directing with her bass every bit as much as she’s playing it. She has proven herself without doubt, as an iconic bluegrass instrumentalist.

“Creativity is for everyone. We believe that inside each of us is an innate ability to express ourselves through artforms, whether they be functional such as ceramic cups or upcycled fashion, or merely decorative, the results of our making and creating are also good for the soul.” says Samantha Tannous, founder of the inaugural multi-faceted event Arts Muster happening in the Blue Mountains this October long weekend.
This brand new event based at @korowalschool with satellite events and markets at @lyttletonstores in Lawson, is an opportunity to immerse yourself into creativity, by giving yourself the dedicated time and focus to learn some new skills, and complete your hand-made items.
The workshops on offer range from ceramics and textiles, to book binding, printing and dyeing. A number of workshops will be based around sustainable practices, with upcycled fashion and small sculptures made from found objects.
While other workshops may give you a taste of creativity, Arts Muster workshops are full days with expert tuition from a range of high level experienced artists.

Blue Mountains based @harolddavidstudio has established himself as one of Australia’s leading celebrity portrait and fashion photographer’s, with an ability to create compositions that have been featured on many prominent magazine covers, his visceral images are enchanting and iconic.
With his creative life constantly evolving, Harold has been exploring the medium of painting. Harold’s new body of work ‘Beauty and the Apocalypse’ encapsulates the beauty in uncertain times via means of abstraction. Rather than escaping from uncertainty, the work emphasises the fragile beauty found within uncertain moments. 'The paintings are drawn from my subconscious and are non objective. Our time here is not infinite, and I choose beauty.' ‘Beauty and the Apocalypse’ opens this October long weekend at @day_gallery_blackheath

Mountains based artist Helen Mountford started painting in earnest in June this year. She had hit 60, had a couple of dark, tumultuous life events in quick succession, and started to paint. ‘It was as simple and as complex as that,’ she said.
Helen works with pre-loved canvases and donated paints. She acknowledges and draws on the generous nature of the Blue Mountains community, and feels this generosity is unique to this special pocket of the world in which she lives and creates.
Helen says when she commences she does not know what she’s going to paint, just that she is compelled to. Having created 40 pieces in a few short months it’s evident that her need to paint is very real.
Her style of works range from abstract 1960's motif works to the gritty industrial view of city buildings. Her love of colour and street art shows through in many of her pieces.
Helen’s first ever exhibition is now on at @platformgalleryco Katoomba, until Tuesday 9th October.
Join Helen in celebrating this milestone by joining her at the official opening on Saturday 28th September at 2pm.
