Many children in Cambodia will forego their education in order to assist the family with their business.

I've been thinking a lot about the themes that I'm drawn to photograph and I had a major revelation. As some of you know, I was born stateless; on a refugee camp in Malaysia. We grew up in Canada without a lot, but lived as normally as we could for first generation immigrants. A lot of the work I've created, be it images from Cambodia, Cuba, Detroit, or Alexandra Park in Toronto -- much of it comes from a place of struggle, perseverance, and adversity. This photograph is from the outskirts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia where many of the children used to work as scavengers at the municipal garbage dump.

One of the most humbling and eye opening experiences of my life taken was creating images at Stueng Meanchey, near the old municipal dump in Phnom Penh. Limited edition zine for sale in bio. at Stung-Meanchey, Phnum Penh, Cambodia

"Cambodia Stories" zine contains a series of candid moments and quiet stories of the lives of the people in Cambodia. It was photographed between 2011 and 2018 in a number of different cities and rural towns. 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this zine will be donated to Rotary Wheels for Learning; a charity that empowers and motivates children to continue with their studies by purchasing them a bicycle. Because children often live an hour walk or more away from school, a bike can be essential for their educational growth. And as some of you know, education is the key for their future as it copes with the aftermath of the genocide nearly 40 years later. Link in bio.

I’ve had the great privilege of visiting Cambodia several times since 2004. It’s a country that I hold really close to my heart. I’ve just completed my second zine: "Cambodia Stories", which will be signed and numbered to 25. It will also contain a signed print of one of my personal favorite photos -- offered for the first time in print. The zine contains a series of candid moments and quiet stories of the lives of the people in Cambodia.
