SOUND UP - The Call Of The Wild 🐺 Wolves can hear as far as 6 miles in the forest and across 10 miles of open territory. Howling is what binds the pack together. While foraging over large areas, they need to know where the other pack members are, and howling is the best way to rally the pack. A howl can also ward off wolves in nearby territories and warn others of danger. But, at times, they howl just because they are happy! Ferocity of the Black Timber Wolf 🐺 Amazing Facts: Wolves travel in packs, with about ten total wolves in a single pack. When it’s mating season, the Alpha male and his female counterpart are the only Wolves to have offspring, birthing between 1 and 11 pups that the rest of the pack takes care of and teaches so they fit comfortably within the pack! Photograph by @PaulNicklen // Why do you think male narwhals have to carry around this sometimes inconvenient tooth? Is it actually a tooth? How long do you think they grow? Do they have teeth inside of their mouths? What percentage of female narwhals have a tusk? If there were such massive physiological benefits to having a narwhal tusk then don’t you think both sexes would have them? How deep can narwhals dive? Are they hunted? Is it legal to sell narwhal tusks? How many populations of narwhal are there? We know so little about these amazing mammals - and have much to learn if we’re to help them survive our changing climate. Via @OCEANS247
