Art and the process of creating art is very therapeutic. At least it is for me. Even though at times it can be insanely stressful. It also definetly has a tendency to drag my mind into some deep dark corners of thought I normally will do just about anything to avoid. In fact It is the only activity I have found where I can bring such strong emotions to the surface, deal with them, and finally begin to put them behind me. I am not really sure why art is able to accomplish this when nothing else ever has. Perhaps I will never know why nor do I particularly care. In reality the fact that it works is more than enough for me. I have come to realize another quality which art has that I feel is unique as well. I hope I can articulate this correctly and without sounding completely insane. The process of creating is the reward. It is for me completely non competitive and ego free. It is the process, the emotional rollercoaster plays out in my head as I paint, that is the source of the satisfaction. So in the end it doesn't really matter wether or not other people like it, or if they "get it". Of course it is always nice when people seem to show a genuine appreciation of something I have created but that is not what I am looking for when I am painting. I would and will continue to paint with or without any outside encouragement or approval. It is quite possibly the only element of my life that exists entirely free of competition or comparison. I honestly wish I could find such freedom in other areas of life. #enoughrantingfortoday ...

"But somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly. Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech. Somewhere I read of the freedom of the press. Somewhere I read that the greatness of America is the right to protest for right." --Martin Luther King, Jr. How can anyone claim to love America while at the same time calling for protest because a man has chosen to exercise one of the liberties on which America was created? Is this not one of the very reasons this great country was created in the first place? Shouldn't all men and women have the right to engage in peaceful protest and social activism without fear of prosecution or persecution when and how each individual decides to do so? Is this not the exact way such situations should be handled? The Constitution of The United States of America gives all Americans the right to freedom of speech and freedom of non-violent civil protest. That same Constitution is the heart and life of America. The same America you claim to be defending. Do you not see the problem here? I SUPPORT MY FELLOW AMERICANS AND WILL DEFEND THEIR RIGHT TO EXERCISE THE RIGHTS AFFORDED THEM BY THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. EVEN WHEN I MAY PERSONALLY DISAGREE WITH WITH THE VIEWS AND NON-VIOLENT ACTIONS OF THOSE MEN AND WOMEN. #GodBlessAmerica #ILoveMyHomeland ...
