Can 2017 European medallists Rebecca Heath (@Becki_77), Emma Goodwin (@EGoodwin87) and Camillie Holland (@CamilleNHolland) make the British team once again?
Adam Bishop (@AdamBishopStrongman) was unlucky to miss out on a podium finish at Britain's Strongest Man. Adam came joint second in the Truck Deadlift with 14 reps, and was just beaten by Terry Hollands (@TerryHollandsWSM) in both the Loading Race and the Super Yoke. Adam finished the @GiantsLiveWSM event on equal points with Terry, but Terry's speed once again got the better of Adam as Terry managed to complete the Atlas Stones in a faster time to secure the win on count back - 22.84 seconds vs 25.94 seconds.
After a year of injuries, Adam is looking like he is back on track to achieve his aim of going to the 2018 World's Strongest Man again.
Terry Hollands' (@TerryHollandsWSM) increased fitness levels, after dropping almost 50kg, helped him power his way to third place on the podium at Britain's Strongest Man last weekend. Terry's new-found speed helped him in three of the @GiantsLiveWSM events as he took victory in the Loading Race, came third in the Super Yoke, and finished second in the Atlas Stones.
Despite taking a tumble and hitting his face with a 160kg Log in the first event, the Log Medley, Terry ended the competition on 54 points, the same as Adam Bishop (@AdamBishopStrongman). However Terry's time on the Atlas Stones was three seconds faster than Adam's and this gave him the overall third place.
Graham Hicks (@GrahamHicksWSM) stormed to victory in the Super Yoke at the @GiantsLiveWSM Britain's Strongest Man Championships. His winning time of 8.61 was over a second faster than second placed Eddie Hall (@EddieHallWSM). Graham finished runner-up to event winner Eddie. On his way to securing his podium place, Graham managed to finish in the top three in four of the six events. He was also the only strongman along with Eddie to press four of the six logs in the Log Medley.
Eddie Hall (@EddieHallWSM) has got 2018 off to a winning start, taking the title of Britain's Strongest Man for a record 5th year running. Despite a hip injury, the 2017 World's Strongest Man secured his victory over Graham Hicks (@GrahamHicksWSM) by 7 points. Eddie won 3 of the @GiantsLiveWSM events - the Log Medley, the Truck Deadlift with 15 reps, and the Atlas Stones where he smashed the competition by over 4 seconds. Eddie also came 2nd in the Super Yoke and the 30kg Hammer Hold, where he was only 4 seconds behind the winning time.
Eddie is planning to next compete at Europe's Strongest Man at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, in April, where he wants to improve on his 2017 2nd place finish. Tickets available via StubHub
Congratulations to Eddie Hall (@eddiehallwsm) on winning a record breaking fifth consecutive Britain's Strongest Man title last weekend at the Sheffield FlyDSA Arena.
Eddie took maximum points in 3 of the 6 @GiantsLiveWSM events - the log medley, the truck deadlift and Atlas Stones - to take the title by 7 points. Graham Hicks (@grahamhickswsm) finished second, improving on last year's third place, and Terry Hollands (@terryhollandswsm) took third, beating Adam Bishop (@adambishopstrongman) on count-back.
Britain’s Strongmen are ready to battle through 6 gruelling strength events for the crown of Britain’s Strongest Man 2018. The final event at the @giantslivewsm Britain's Strongest Man show is the Atlas Stones - the only way to end a Strongman show. Not only is this a signature strongman event, it is also determines the overall winner. 5 stones, each getting heavier, & 5 platforms, each getting higher. Adam Bishop (@adambishopstrongman) wants a podium spot, but who will win this event & take the title of Britain's Strongest Man 2018?
Limited tickets available from Sheffield FlyDSA Arena http://www.flydsaarena.co.uk
The full range of SBD products will be available to purchase before & after you've seen them in action at the event.
Action at the @giantslivewsm Britain's Strongest Man starts at 5pm on Saturday 27 January, and the first event is the Log Medley. With 5 logs starting at 120kg (265lbs) and going up to 200kg (441lbs), the man who can press all 5 logs in the fastest time wins.
The log in the @theWorldsStrongestMan 2017 heats was 159kg (350lbs), but this was pressed for reps. Eddie Hall (@eddiehallwsm) held the current British record at 211kg (465lbs), so the final 200kg (441lbs) log shouldn't give him too many problems.
Limited tickets for tomorrow’s event remain on sale but ONLY from the Sheffield FlyDSA Arena (http://www.flydsaarena.co.uk)
Doors open at 4pm. Visit the SBD booth for fitting, advice, or to purchase from the full product range.
