"Early" morning sled time. Early is in quotes as it was probably around 11:30 am that I took this shot. At about 10 am, it's still dark out this time of year above the Arctic Circle. @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

On the set of the Finnish version of Twin Peaks, apparently. @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

What I love about the light in Finland are the soft pastels that are present in the morning and evening light. There's a quality of the light up there that's hard to describe. @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

Where are all these sleds supposed to live (when they're not being abandoned in the snow)? At the main lodge, of course! @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

Aaaand, this is the last one for this particular series of my recent Finland trip. I've got some more coming starting tomorrow, just with a little more color (and sled dogs!). It didn't look like this the entire time we were there (it did get dark out), mostly the first day. I hope you've been enjoying them and will enjoy the ones coming up, too! @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

We stayed in one of these Kelo-Igloo cabins. Very cool, I have to say. Our bed was under the glass igloo part, so you could watch the night sky (and potential Auroras) from there. Ooh la la (which is not a Finnish saying). @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

Been super busy yesterday and today which is why I almost missed posting today as well. During stressful times, it's nice to get away to a refuge of sorts to relax, collect your thoughts and get some tea inside yourself. Not that we were stressed in Finland, but this building at the resort was the refuge from the cold. It was also the restaurant, so it served double duty to fill our bellies with delicious soup as well. @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

This is the entrance to what was being called the wedding chapel, so we peeked through the window to see inside because it seemed like a cool structure to get married in (door was locked). It was the wedding suite. Luckily, the couple inside were dressed. Hopefully they didn't see us as we quickly backed away. 😅 at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

The classic glass igloos (with sled, of course). It's actually quite small. Fits only a queen sized and a bathroom (sans shower). This one was farther out in the woods then the main cabins, so I imagine that on a clear night, one can see the Aurora like gangbusters. @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

I'm not really sure what this building was for. It's similar the glass igloos that you can stay in. I'm wondering if it's used for some kind of nighttime activity that you can do at the resort. Either way, I love the futurism (inherent in the shape and glass color) of this structure in relation to the organic environment it resides in. @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland

These little sleds were everywhere for you to transport your luggage to your cabins. Some people rode them down hills as well (despite signs asking the guests not to). @kakslauttanen_arctic_resort at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Sodankylä, Finland
