One of Sirius’s tasks is to push the handicap button when I need him to. The task “push” basically is a base for other tasks like “push closed”(pushing the door closed) or “push open”(pushing a door open) there are many things that he can do and it all comes down to having a “base” for what other actions you want to teach. It is so easy to teach a dog to go up and push a door closed because they naturally put their weight into the door and then you praise for doing a job well done. Same concept but Sirius now know to “locate” buttons. I’m trying to get him to hit the elevator buttons...that one is a bit of a challenge, and crosswalk buttons too! They are a lot smaller and take more “target training” to get done. Sirius I think truly enjoyed getting to do this task, which let’s be honest, what doesn’t he like doing? #push #keeppushingon #handicapbutton #tasktrained #cool #dog #servicedog #workingdog #dogtraining #dogsofinstagram #poodle #instagram #cute #instalike #puppy #instapuppy #puppylove #happy #invisibleIllness #chronicIllness #spoonie #disability #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #complexregionalpainsyndrome #ehlersdanlossyndrome #chronicpain #instagood #button #thankful

ATAH BOY! Sirius is truly becoming an amazing low blood sugar alerted/detector...now all I need is to reach him to never hit my right leg again because of the allodynia in my right leg making any slight tiny hit to the outside of my leg and it is all down hill after that. It is excruciating 😖 but I know he didn’t mean too. Just trying to tell mama to get to eating something! What a #gooddog indeed. @journeysofaservicephoenix gotta help me target 🎯 EDIT:also reminded myself to change the time backwards on my monitor #daylightsavingstime 😅🤣 #dog #dogsofinstagram #servicedog #workingdog #tasktrained #cute #puppy #puppylove #poodle #poodlesofinstagram #working #hypoglycemia #medicalalertdog #thankful #happy #hero #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #complexregionalpainsyndrome #chronicpain #chronicillness #spoonie #ehlersdanlossyndrome #orange

Sirius helping with some laundry. Here is a repost from my other account of Sirius performing one of his many laundry tasks (he does a few things to help with laundry) which is to tug on the dirty clothes hamper and pull the hamper to the laundry room for me to #clean the #clothes #dirty #tasktrained #cool #dog #servicedog #workingdog #dogtraining #dogsofinstagram #poodle #instagram #cute #instalike #puppy #instapuppy #puppylove #happy #invisibleIllness #chronicIllness #spoonie #disability #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #complexregionalpainsyndrome #ehlersdanlossyndrome #chronicpain #instagood #laundry #thankful

Hey guys!! Finally found the password to this account after a long week of not be able to get into it after deactivating it(no thanks to Instagram btw after emailing over and over) for what I wanted to only be a day to make my personal IG @desireejaykins account. WEEEEE more accounts to keep up🤢🤮🤩😍🤣😂 have fun listening to my friend @baeayala_ and I complain about how messy our mall is because people are dirty as hell and can’t take care of their trash. Sirius didn’t mind it much. #mall #dirty #trash #shopping #servicedog #servicedogintraining #dogtraining #disability #ehlersdanlossyndrome #complexregionalpainsyndrome #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #blackdog #thinkpositive #dontworry #behappy #cute #instagood #chronicillness #chronicpain #mylegdoesthesloppyswish

We were both rocking Orange yesterday like crazy but I wasn’t feeling too good to post much other than to complain that I was really hurting yesterday. PT has seemed to aggravate my nerves so waiting a week and coming back to see how things are is what the next step is. This is the second time I have done this with PT doctors and they always are just as confused as to my leg and how RSD effects it. I am gettin my psych evaluation paperwork all in order for my Spinal Cord Stimulator Trial and then talking about it with the doctor who does the trial portion to ask all the crazy questions that must be asked with huge procedures like this. The psych evaluation basically just lets them know you are okay and feel comfortable with having a foreign object implanted into your body. I am obviously nervous as shit especially because I am awake the whole procedure😳 but am feeling good things like this may be the key to helping manage my leg pain. Maybe not fix the complete weakness and loss of use in my leg but the pain...that part gets managed I will be able to actually do PT and maybe have positive results rather than aggravating my leg even further. I am waiting patiently and trying to not put too much thought into it. Like most things I really overthink things and anxiety and worried thoughts don’t help any so I’m going to be distracting myself with good things. Especially things to be #thankful For #orange #servicedog #servicedogintraining #dogtraining #disability #ehlersdanlossyndrome #complexregionalpainsyndrome #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #blackdog #thinkpositive #dontworry #behappy #cute #instagood #chronicillness #chronicpain #allpainnogain #mylegdoesthesloppyswish #goodthingscometothosewhowait

Sirius actually alerted me to having Hypoglycemia before Duke today! They both then alerted but this little crazy was so fierce about his alerting I just had to show. I was pretty proud of him for just doing the alerts without me asking to “check”. He just came over like “MOM YOU ARE LOW IT LOW MOM IT LOW!” He is too cute sometimes and just absolutely dramatic as all hell. I checked my self and he was right so I asked him to check again just to reinforce the “low blood sugar alert”. We are both also wearing lots of orange for #crpsawareness #nervember I love we are matching. #medicalalertdog #lowbloodsugar #hypoglycemia #servicedog #tasktrained #servicedogintraining #intraining #workingdog #dogtraining #ownertrained #chronicillness #chronicpain #spoonie #invisibleillness #ehlersdanlossyndrome

The days have been weird. I have been sitting back waiting for something like something is supposed to happen and don’t really know why. Maybe it is the jitters of knowing things are coming up and trying to not think too long and hard about things. I took a 4 hour nap today which was much needed. Sirius is curled up against my legs and Duke is asleep on his bed. I had a “normal” people meal this morning and think it processing in my body was just too much. I had like normal breakfast and actually shoved the food down my throat like a snake and was done and full...but then came the digesting of what I ate that just was too much. I am told by my primary to just eat anything I can and that my restricted diet is possibly causing me to not gain weight so per doctors orders literally eat any and everything. We all know that’s going to go wonderfully so I have an appointment setup with a neurogastrointerologist Dec 3rd to go over my continued GI issues... I have my wheelchair evaluation on the 14th and noted needing a Smart Drive as well. The lady who I spoke to was so friendly and sweet and made me excited to get the process completed. The evaluation basically lets the provider understand my needs more and they come to my own house. My dad purchased a laptop for me which should be here in a few days, such a nice surprise which means I may possibly be able to do vlogs like I have been wanting to. We are in the works for having me be able to use mobility shuttles to get around to my appointments too and help me with my SSI/Disability paperwork that I have to do all over again due to moving to my dads. I get to talk with my Pain Management Doctor who performs the actual trial for the SCS(spinal cord stimulator) and further go over that on the 8th. I am possibly in the works of getting to have my own car 🚗but we will see especially since I would need my pedals shifted to the left so I can drive with my left leg. A lot has gone on but we are here and working through things and not giving up. #servicedog #photooftheday #dog #dogsofinstagram #poodle #orange #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #ehlersdanlossyndrome #spoonie #chronicpain #chronicillness

November is RSD/CRPS Awareness month and so my feed will be filled with RSD stuff alone with Sirius too 🔥🍊🔥... Wear orange this month to bring awareness to the progressive disease of the Autonomic Nervous System that I live with called Reflex Sympathic Dystrophy/Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, which is rated the highest ranking Pain on the McGill pain index to this day. I will be spreading more and more awareness and annoying everybody’s feeds this month with my trying to spread some light on a very dark twisted pain disease that was dubbed “The Suicide Disease”... because there is not yet a cure, many of us who have lived with this don’t want to live anymore and have taken their own lives to get away from the pain because the pain can be so excruciating. I have atrophy, a permanent bruise, constant pain, continuous discoloration, and continuous loss of mobility in my right leg from a Phenergan(anti nausea/vomiting med) that was injected into my right gluteal muscle. Sirius is one of the many medical devices and people I use to help me get through my everyday life. Those don’t put the fire out though and we need to find some form of better care and treatment plans to help us. We fighters need help. We deserve a cure. #spreadlove #spreadawareness #wearorange #orange #rsd #findacure #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #crps #complexregionalpainsyndrome #putouttheflames #fire #flames #burning #chronicpain #chronicillness #spoonie #pain #painful #disability #notsuchaninvisibledisease #mylegdoesthesloppyswish #somedaysIwanttochopmylegoff

Here is Sirius doing his “detection” skills. I think I prefer using that term with him since he actively doesn’t “alert” like Duke unless I am like near him and am close to his face. In other words...he tells me when I am low or normal when I ask him to “check”, he was trained with glucose strips, cotton balls, cotton swabs, and me licking my hand when I knew I was low to reinforce the smell/scent all at different “lows” after 78 ,which is when I begin to feel symptoms. He is a lucky ass boy the top portion of my leg is not too painful/sensitive as the direct side and back part of my leg. RSD/CRPS still strikes me dumbfounded by how the nerves and portions of my leg muscles and tendons are effected. I actually am not even able to shave the entire outside part of my leg where the effected area is. If you meet me you will always see me say something about where NOT to touch my leg since it is so localized and luckily has spread slowly which the numbness has but not so much the pain🙃progressive disease of the Autonomic Nervous System is a strange thing. I still don’t understand my inability to absorb food at times and it is so stressful on my body. I can’t help but wonder if there may possibly be a connection of my RSD/CRPS being in my gut region since when I received my injection injury was all when I was dealing with Clostridium Difficile Colitis and had the injection to stop my profuse vomiting.🤔I will be seeing more doctors frequently per usual woopeee but here is some Sirius goodness to share with you all! I will be making a personal IG (beauty stuff, medical stuff, showing my life to bring awareness and understanding to people in my similar condition, and maybe inspire some of you to do something that challenges you to think and face your everyday challenges.)That will all soon happen once I can get my life feeling secure and steady. #cool #dog #lowbloodsugar #servicedogintraining #servicedog #workingdog #medicalalertdog #mobilitydog #dogtraining #dogsofinstagram #standardpoodle #poodle #cute #instalike #puppy #instapuppy #puppylove #invisibleillness #chronicIllness #chronicpain #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #complexregionalpainsyndrome #ehlersdanlossyndrome

#Lyft has been our main transportation and not once have we had a bad experience with us as a team even with the other medical devices we use like forearm crutches and my wheelchair the days have not gotten easier for us...I’m just hoping and praying for things to start properly working out. I won’t be able to post much until life is not so back and forth but I do apologize in advance to anybody who ever messages me or needs something from me. To be completely honest things are not very “stable” for me as of now. I’m pretty lost and am trying to listen to the universe. November is RSD/CRPS awareness month and will heavily be spreading awareness for this disease and the things it has taken from me. #Spoonie #medicalalertdog #mobilitydog #servicedogintraining #instagramdogs #instagram #instagood #servicedog #poodle #chronicpain #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #complexregionalpainsyndrome #chronicillness #chronicallyill #ehlersdanlossyndrome #awareness #reflexsympatheticdystrophyawareness

So today has been a pretty bad symptomatic day due to not waking up late and feeling quite awful and Duke knew it. He did a very heavy alert on the couch a bit before this video and so I first went to check my blood sugar since it is the first thing that comes to mind for alerts and low and behold my BGL(blood glucose level) was low at 70...thank you Dukey boy, retired and still always has my back. Here I am showing how I ask Sirius to “check” and I bend over slightly open my mouth and slow deep breathe near his face/nose where he then performed his alert which is pawing and tugging on my clothes at really anything below 78 which is where I begin to feel symptoms. I am happy to have the health monitors like for BP and glucose levels so I can check myself and see what my dogs are picking up on(Sirius only does low blood sugar alert because I trained that scent to him and not any other) sometimes alert dogs especially ones like Duke who are natural alert dogs pick up on multiple health crisis. It is important to check all possibilities or weird symptoms as things you are aware of like low blood sugar or hypertension. #hypoglycemia #lowbloodsugar #servicedog #medicalalertdog #mobilitydog #servicedog #cool #dogtraining #myhero #poodle #puppy #puppylove #dog #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #ehlersdanlossyndrome #chronicillness #chronicpain #spoonie #dogsofinstagram #standardpoodle #instagram #cute

Smart boy “finding” my case for my cardio monitor thingy. He is so funny once he FINALLY finds what I ask him too. He was searching and his little nose is so cute to watch as it guides him towards the object in need at the moment. #cool #dog #servicedog #workingdog #dogtraining #dogsofinstagram #standardpoodle #poodle #instagram #cute #instalike #puppy #instapuppy #puppylove #invisibleIllness #chronicIllness #spoonie #disability #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #complexregionalpainsyndrome #ehlersdanlossyndrome #chronicpain #instagood #find #searching

Here is Sirius tasking like the good boy that he is. Holding and placing things is such a breeze for him. He loves being able to hand items to the cashiers over the counters at ANY store we go to. It is like he is almost saying “OPE HERE YOU GO FRIEND!” he very much is proud of himself for sure. Video is of Sirius placing an item onto the counter of a store. #instalike #instadaily #awareness #futureservicedog #instagram #disability #spoonie #reflexsympatheticdystrophy #CRPS #complexregionalpainsyndrome #chronicpain #chronicillness #ehlersdanlossyndrome #staypositive #lifeisgood #thankful #workingdog #dog #dogsofinstgram #poodle #instagood #love #happy #servicedog #dogtraining #shopping #hardwork

“Well, well, well, what have we here?”(comment if you know what tune this is from haha) Another “big boy” harness for Sirius. I got the chance to try this harness on Sirius while down in LA and fell in love with it so much. Well I got offered the harness almost a week later and could not pass up on it. I have a Yupcollars y front semi rigid detachable handle harness and now a Bold Lead Designs Basic Assistance Harness. I have yet to put this harness to use yet to get a feel but once I do I will be doing a live stream of my person opinions on comparing the two harnesses and their uses. If you are not a person who requires mobility needs and has not talked to a doctor about using their dog for their disability mobility needs and also not have had your dog gone in for X-rays and proper check up to ensure they are healthy and in good shape(even though I think any type of SD should have their hips and elbows xrayed) then this harness and me speaking of mobility terms should go right over your head and you can just stare at my elegant black cloud fluff who is also showing off a leather collar I made for him from a leather dog collar making kit thing at hobby lobby. It turned out so well and makes me want to shave Sirius down so the collar can be better seen. Should I go for the pom poms and Mohawk next grooming day??? I am thinking about having him be in jammies this winter being kinda bare in his body.🤔thoughts? Now all I need to finish this leather look is to pick up my leather leash I left at my dads because I am #forgetful #AF #goodday #servicedog #disability #mobilitydog #servicedogintraining #spoonie #handsomeman #instagood
