Alex and Lisa are best friends and talented professionals believe it or not with a wide range of skills and experience. We love what we do, we do it with passion and sometimes we like a good rant. Is alcohol normal? Is it something we should be stockpiling? Are you going to the shop in a mask, gloves, sanitizing your trolley and then filling it with booze?
Alex and Lisa provide a safe space to support everyone who chooses not to drink alcohol (either for social, religious, cultural or personal reasons) for people to be a part of and to talk openly and honestly without the fear of being labelled or judged check out their link tree for more info: https://linktr.ee/soberexperiment
In this weeks episode we talk to Clare Pooley Author of The Sober Diaries and New Novel, The Authenticity Project. This weeks episode was recorded a few weeks ago so perfect if you want to take your mind off things for a while! @clare_pooley is a Cambridge graduate and was a Managing Partner at one of the world's biggest advertising agencies,
Clare quit drinking and started a blog called Mummy Was a Secret Drinker.
Her book is the story of a year in Clare's life. A year that started with her quitting booze having been drinking more than a bottle of wine every day. It sees her starting a hugely successful blog, then getting and beating breast cancer. By the end of the year she is booze free and cancer free, two stone lighter and with a life that is so much richer, healthier and more rewarding than ever before. Sober Diaries is one of our favourite quit lit books it is upbeat, funny and positive Clare shows how to live life to the full.
Interwoven within Clare's own very personal and frank story is research and advice, and answers to questions like: How do I know if I'm drinking too much? How will I cope at parties? What do I say to friends and family? How do I cope with cravings? Will I lose weight? What if my partner still drinks? And many more.
We are so grateful that Clare took the time to talk to us and hope you enjoy this as much as we did.

@timmarner we are taking good advice!
As always if you are looking for any support then please drop us a DM and know you are never on your own, we’ve got you 💗
Honoured to join @timmarner on his podcast this morning! Each time we speak to Tim we step a little bit further out of our comfort zones! It’s people like Tim that help us realise what we are doing really does matter, it really does help people and we really can make a difference! When we started the sober experiment we just wanted to make a difference, we wanted to show that alcohol isn’t all that it seems, that we have been lied to and that we have been fooled for far too long - now it’s time to change the story! you must be the change you want to see in the world - We are on it ! Thanks Tim 🙏💓🌍🌈
This is exactly what we needed tonight!! It might have taken a global pandemic to pin her down but we finally caught up with the lovely @lspraggan - From beer fear to complete sobriety we talk to Lucy about the highs and lows of her sober journey so far! She’s a fricken legend, this podcast was so much fun and you are going to have to wait till episode 20 to hear it! It’ll be worth it though we promise!
The link to all of our episodes is in our bio so if you fancy a change from the news then please go check it out 💓
Looking at all the good things in your life and allowing yourself to be grateful for each and everyone of them means you are much less likely to stress about the negative things going on! Being positive doesn’t mean life is perfect it’s making a conscious choice to focus more on the good that does exist!
It’s the small habits, how you spend your mornings, how you talk to yourself, what you read. what you watch, who you share your energy with, who has access to you that will change your life.
We are so lucky and grateful to be sober right now and wouldn’t swap it for anything. Chatting with these amazing people and about 60 others over Zoom last night was exactly what we needed and spreading loads of positivity which is what the world needs right now.
In light of the current situation we have decided to bring our communities together and create connection every Saturday 4-5pm on Zoom for a panel from us and time for Q/A. Join
And let’s get through this tricky time together, support each other and our sobriety by sharing our challenges, successes and learning from expert advice
If you would like to join us send us a DM and we can invite you into our community group

Christy can be reached at facebook.com/the addictsfamily44 or @theaddictsfamily44

So this really cheered me up yesterday! Popped up in the “for you” section of my photos and it’s us over the years!
Missing my bff but glad technology is keeping us well connected!
Please let us know if you would like to pop in our Sober Experiment “House Party” and we will join you for a coffee and a catch up! A x
I never liked myself much when I was drinking, infact had I been told I had to isolate myself with myself back then I’d have been devastated. Thank God for sobriety, self care, meditation, self development, self help books, quit lit, IG, sober groups and podcasts they have all helped me become somebody I don’t mind spending time with! How are you all coping?
