The Pelvic Tilt is good to relax the lower back after a long day. This gentle rocking exercise keeps the pelvic joints loose, too. How to do a pelvic tilt:⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 1) Come to hands and knees on a yoga mat, towel, or carpet.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 2) Inhale and engage your abdominal muscles while you lift your lower back up towards the ceiling. Imagine that a string helps you lift your lower back (lumbar). Don’t focus on your shoulders; that’s not the part that counts.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 3) Exhale and release your abdominal muscles while you straighten your back into a tabletop pose. Don’t dip your lower back like a swayback horse because that can strain your muscles in pregnancy.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 4) Continue moving between curling your lower back to straightening it rhythmically, with your breath.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 5) Do 20-40 pelvic tilts. Learn how to do the Psoas Muscle Release in pregnancy, which relieves or eliminates low back and leg pains, opens and centers the pelvis and hips, and can help you avoid induction.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Psoas Lengthening with Constructive Rest Pose⁣⁣ 1) Gather a yoga mat, bolster or couch cushion, and a couple of yoga blocks or other pillows.⁣⁣ 2) Create an incline: On a yoga mat, place one yoga block in its tallest position and another at its longest position, perpendicular to the first block. Or use several a few pillows to create a lower and upper level. Rest a bolster or couch cushion over the two blocks or pillows. Sit with your bum directly in front of the bolster and lie back. Keep the knees bent and the feet flat on the mat, hip-width apart.⁣⁣ 3) Begin to focus on your breath. Inhale into the side ribs to stretch the diaphragm (ditch your bra if wearing one). With every exhale, imagine the thighbones getting heavier and sinking deeper into the hip sockets. The more the thighs can sink, the more the psoas is encouraged to relax into the back body where it belongs. Repeat for 15 breaths.⁣⁣ 4) Allow your pelvis and spine to remain neutral—no tucking.⁣⁣ 5) Rest here for 10 minutes.⁣⁣ 6) Keep expanding your diaphragm by breathing into the side ribs (expanding your ribs to each side). Notice your thigh bones slowly releasing lower. The hip sockets relax.
