@leahjavon - You’ll never know by simply looking at me that I’m sick. That I have 3 diseases ( #sicklecell , #lupus & #crohnsdisease ) that by themselves are terrible and together are debilitating. You wouldn’t know that I have over a dozen medications to take daily. You wouldn’t know that I retrieve chemotherapy in two forms. You wouldn’t know I’m on oxygen when I’m out and walking around unless I have it on. You wouldn’t know that I’m in pain every single day...on a scale of 1-10, I’m usually at a 6 or 7. You wouldn’t know that a lot of the time I am nauseous and sometimes having stomach cramping from the Crohn’s so severe that I can’t eat or I can’t finish a meal You wouldn’t know that I spend half my life in a hospital bed or in bed at home because of pain, infections or other complications from my illnesses. You wouldn’t know that due to my immunosuppressive medications and chemo that I can’t be around anyone who even has the common cold, I barely have an immune system it quickly can turn into pneumonia..or could kill me.
