Throwin' it way back for #tbtโค๏ธ this was me back in 2006. I used to run into burning buildings and then later carried a badge and gun and arrested bad guys/girls. I was a firefighter for 10 years and then an Arson/Explosives Detective for 8 years. I had to retire early after I was severely injured in an accident and almost lost my entire left arm. I was injured off duty, lost the use of my left arm and almost had it amputated. My arm was totally paralyzed for 3 years and after numerous surgeries I have regained about 70% use of my arm. I will never have full use due to the extreme irreversible nerve and orthopedic damage. . . . Now, I am preparing for my 9th surgery which will be major reconstructive surgery of my hand. . . . I am in pain every second of every day. There are days when I cannot use my left arm at all due to the pain and weird nerve damage but I dont complain because I know there are others who may be struggling more than me. I share this story with you because if I can overcome so many incredible obstacles then you too can do ANYTHING you set your mind, heart and soul to accomplishing !!. . . . I miss that job every single day but truly love the amazing beautiful life that God has given me now, I am so lucky to have the love of my life @ray_pickell who takes such great care of me without ever complaining๐Ÿ’–. . . . My injury is still a struggle every moment of my life and always will be because of the severe nerve damage and shattered bones I sustained and the many screws and pins holding my arms together. But, I refuse to be a prisoner to my obstacles. . . . NEVER EVER GIVE UP no matter what your story is !!! . . . Tofu & Veggies with Spicy Italian Dressing. . . For those that asked, this is the Tofu recipe from my IG story over the weekend๐Ÿ˜Š. . . . I think this tastes even better the second day. I also make a lot so I have lunches/dinners for a few days. . . . You can choose your favorite veggies to, anything goes. . . . . Here's what I used: Cherry Tomatoes Artichoke Hearts Green Onions Green Beans Green Olives Broccoli Carrots Tofu. . . Directions: Steam veggies that need it, chop everything how you like, mix together, add favorite vegan dressing (I used homemade Spicy Italian). . . Cut Tofu into cubes, cook them in a hot skillet with a little Italian dressing and cook to desired firmness. Allow to cool. Gently mix everything together and serve by itself, on top of pasta, rice, quinoa or potatoes. #ahimsadiet

I spent Friday beating myself up and full of self loathing after finding out I need major reconstructive surgery on my hand & wrist. Asking myself; HOW I could be so weak and not just suck up the pain?!!? HOW can I be so weak that I need such major surgery that will sideline me AGAIN !!!!???!!!! WHEN will all of this end ?????!!! After 12 long years and 14 surgeries and nine pins & screws holding both of my arms together!!?!!. . . . @scandela_fitness reminded me that I am ONLY human I am NOT super human. CHRONIC PAIN SUCKS!! But, chronic pain will NOT overtake me ......I am stronger and will be victorious!!. . . . . . Thank you @scandela_fitness for your words in your amazing class on Friday, for such inspirational speeches during your classes and reminding me that 'I am only human'. . . . . . . Oven Roasted Beets & Carrots. An easy veggie meal prep idea and so yummy. Ingredients: 3 pounds of beets, peeled & chopped 2 pounds of carrots, peeled & chopped 1 teaspoon each salt & pepper A few tablespoons your preferred oil 3 tablespoons fresh chopped rosemary (optional) Directions: Preheat oven to 400F Place chopped beets & carrots in a bowl and drizzle with coconut oil and mix to coat evenly Add seasonings and mix to coat evenly Pour onto a large baking pan lined with parchment paper Bake until tender about 30-40 minutes Thanks to @wholefoodshamptonroads for these beautiful ingredientsโค #ahimsadiet at Whole Foods Market

Completed the 'inTENse' challenge today with these amazing women. All those names behind us on the board have completed it too. We had to complete 10 CycleBar clases in 20 days, harder than it sounds. @cyclebar_redmill and everyone who works there is so encouraging, motivating and inspirational. I am so happy and beyond lucky to have found this AMAZING place. If you have the chance to try a @cyclebar near you, I HIGHLY recommend this challenging, fun, effective workout. Never skip the weekend. 20 min Raw Oats I don't care for overnight oats or warm oats because they are too mushy for me. I prefer to mix up my oats, wait 20 minutes and eat them cold/raw. 1/2 cup Oats 1 cup Coconut Milk 1 tablespoon each ground flax seed, help hearts and chia seed Mix together, wait about 20 minutes and then devour. #staythecourse

Tofu Protein Pudding My all time favorite breakfast with a side of oatmeal. I eat Brazil nuts everyday as they are a natural source of Selenium which is needed for proper thyroid function. Ingredients: 1 block silken Tofu 1/3 cup protein powder (I use one scoop mocha flavor Vega One Sport Performance) 2 teaspoons each of chia seeds, ground flax seed, hemp hearts (these are all optional) 1 tablespoon cacao powder (optional) 1 tablespoons maca powder (optional) Directions: Place everything in blender and combine. Top with your favorites I used raw buckwheat groats, more hemp hearts and Brazil nuts. NOTES: 1) Adding chia seeds will make this a thicker pudding consistency. 2) Adding a banana is yummy too. 3) You can add maple syrup if it is not sweet enough for you. #ahimsadiet #teamconsciousmuscle
