You’ll have days of eating that may look like all of these days or somewhere in between. . And guess what? It’s all okay! . There is an ebb and flow to life as an UnDieter. . You may be loving on the veggies and fruit one day and the next it’s pizza and donuts and the next there’s a bit of both! . That’s what makes life so freeing living in a world where all food is allowed because any day that you may have doesn’t need to mean you were wrong or bad. It just means that’s what you chose to eat that day and you move on... . This life is all about eating in ways that make YOU feel good. And however that is- that’s great. We aren’t trying to control your serving sizes (or praising anyone who stops after 1 order of fries). We really don’t care how much you eat. That’s up to you. . The point is that when you eat with shame and guilt - it’s really hard to actually use your intuition and tune into your body. Meaning you’ll just keep eating way more than you even wanted to in the first place because you are making yourself wrong for doing it. You aren’t allowing yourself to eat. When you eat with mental restriction that still leads to bingeing. . When you eat with allowance you can tune into your body and notice how it feels. Since you aren’t making yourself wrong for eating the fries (or the thing) you can notice when you feel satisfied and done because you know you can eat fries whenever you feel like it. So you actually end up eating the amount that feels good to your body (however much that is!) . Have you ever eaten something like pizza and ice cream and then said the phrase “I fell off the wagon. I’ll get back on tomorrow.” That’s classic dieting! . As an UnDieter - THERE IS NO WAGON! . There’s no shame in wanting to lose weight. You’ve been living a life focused on weight loss for the last 10-30 years... It’s not going to go away over night - and the desire might never fully go away but here’s the thing. Some people might say that weight loss goals are fine as long as you do it in a “healthy” way. We don’t believe this is an option if you want to stay out of the diet cycle. Here’s why. If weight loss is your motivation it will affect your daily choices. You’ll start questioning your hunger signals, skip that amazing dessert you really want, leading you to feel deprived. Enter binge eating and BOOM you’re back in the cycle. So what do you do instead? It’s ok to focus on wellness (which may lead to weight loss and it may not). It’s ok to desire weight loss but make sure that everything you’re doing is still something you’d want to do, that it’s still a lifestyle you’d like to live even if it doesn’t bring weight loss. Would you want to skip that dessert even if it doesn’t result in weight loss? Maybe, maybe not, only you can answer that. But having a specific weight loss goal is a recipe for a slippery slope back into the diet cycle. Instead find wellness that feels good. Exercise. Enjoy nutritious food. Honor your hunger signals. Enjoy your life. This may result in weight loss, it may not. But focusing on weight loss doesn’t make it happen, it just brings worry and often obsession. So instead of beginning on the path of having a “healthy” weight loss goal (long term intentional weight loss has been proven to be nearly impossible), implement wellness into your life that you enjoy and you’d still do even if it doesn’t bring weight loss. So - if you lose weight, cool, if you don’t, you’re living a life full of wellness and enjoyment! The only way to stop the cycle is to take a deep breath and realize who you are and what you’re doing today is enough. No need for more of anything. What is restriction? It’s a limiting condition... Limiting... That does not sound fun. A lot of people think the way they eat isn’t limiting — “I just eat clean”, “I just watch what I eat”, “I just eat healthy”. These are all limiting/ restrictive ways of eating. You are giving yourself limits you need to stay in, and inevitably these limits will be crossed. It’s all a mess honestly. It’s okay to eat after 7pm!!!! . As an UnDieter all 24 hours of the day are up for grabs to eat- that’s right, when you have a hunger signal and your body is asking you for something, you get to honor that (no matter what time it is)! . It also doesn’t matter what it is that you- we aren’t here to tell you what to eat or how to eat- we are here to tell you to listen to your body, trust your body, be compassionate to your body, and feel good in your body (or don’t if that’s not what you want 😉). . It will look different for everyone and that’s the beautiful thing about being an UnDieter. . You can eat an apple or you can eat chocolate or you can eat both and every which way you choose is all okay because it’s your choice on what you eat, what your signals are, and how you want to feel. .
