“Authenticity is not the search for uniqueness. An oak tree does not try to become an oak tree. A cactus does not try to become a cactus. All living things simply reach for nourishment - they reach for sun, reach for water, reach their roots deeper into the ground. By being open to receiving what they need, they become unique effortlessly. So let yourself fall open. Forget about crafting yourself a unique personality. Just allow. Allow in love. Allow pain. Allow desire. Allow learning. Allow healing. Allow frustration. Allow uncertainty. Allow yourself to experience what you must experience and learn what you need to learn, so that your uniqueness can emerge organically.”
Just a little reflection today as the year is winding down. A lot has happened this year to us all. Be healthy, keep the fire stoked. Be here now. All we really have power over are the actions we take and the emotions we give out. Be mindful. Calm. Shine your light!
Yesterday I said goodbye to a piece of my adolescent years. 20+ years ago this human opened his circle of friends to me and showed me how to love again. I had gone through a life changing tragedy and he gifted me the opportunity to grieve and just be myself. Supported me through transition and always showed me love and compassion, never judging me. Over the years we grew apart, I kept tabs but from afar. I will never forget the years we had. This one was tough. I didn’t want to go yesterday but I am glad I did. I knew 2 people. His mother and Rosales. I was blessed to be holding hands with mom before she got up to speak. The space was filled, standing room only. I listened as people spoke about Mike. My heart filled with love as each story made me laugh and cry. He will be greatly missed. Mike had suffered from depression, isolation and he drank to cope. Last week his corporeal form lost the battle. He helped everyone and never shared his burdens. It makes my heart heavy that people don’t reach out enough to see how friends are doing. You never know what demons others fight. Listen to people. Be kind to people. Take care of each other. He leaves behind and wife and 4yr old Logan. His mother wanted me to have that piece of paper so I am passing on the message. Ask questions. Be active in your friends (peoples) lives. Help them fight those destructive thoughts, patterns. We are all human. One love. One fight. • “Do not stand at my grave and cry

“If you can believe in yourself, you can write any narrative you want. When the story changes and isn’t what you want anymore, write a new one. You don’t have to be a hostage to any narrative you write for yourself. Tell the stories that remind you of when you were courageous. Tell stories about your strength, perseverance, and resilience. Tell the stories about how strong you are, the stories of your survival. The stories where you knew in your bones that life was worth living. You have those stories, repeat them over and over so you never forget who you really are.”
Fight that inner voice that tells you “you’re never going to be good enough at _____.” You can make a choice to redefine yourself today. Let go of that other negative story that is on loop in your thoughts. Step out of the darkness into the light and choose the new unknown path. Stay focused and stay positive. Start where you are and rewrite the narrative. You can do anything you set your mind to. #namaslay #makegooddecisionstoday #believeinyourself #showupforyourself #mindset #goals
Last night in the middle of the night I was woken up by a noise in the next room. I slowly looked to my dogs, Gunner sleeping and Nanook alert and looking at my door. I quietly moved to grab my pistol. In that brief second I was breathing to stay calm, I was thinking to myself if an intruder has broken in and it is protecting myself/family vs. them? I’m about to see what I’m made of. Tiptoeing down the hallway, I listened for any movement in the other room. It was quiet. So I prepared myself for the unknown and flicked on the kitchen light. My heart was racing as I quickly assessed something had apparently fallen off the wall. I moved to look around the house and there was no one there. A sigh of relief. This time of year around my neighborhood people like to test the waters. And I have been victim to people breaking into vehicles in the carport. & one night many years ago, Something woke me up outside on the patio. When I slowly moved to look outside my sliding door, there was a large male looking in my room. I was frozen in fear. Tears running down my face. No clue what to do. I never wanted to feel like that again. So I bought my first gun for self defense. The point is, I felt more prepared and this time I had better control over my mindset. I had everything I needed waiting for me. I didn’t freak out even though adrenaline was pumping. My thoughts were clear and I was willing to do what I needed to do. This mindset has come from listening and practicing my awareness to problems that arise around me. Last night I was not frozen in fear. I am evolving. Greatful for what I am learning about myself and learning from the Tribe. #mindset #knowledgeispower #slowissmooth #edc #selfdefense #survival How do you think you’d react?
“Whatever challenges your skills, improves those skills. Certainly challenges are difficult to go through. However, challenges are great to have gone through. Challenges have always brought out the best in you, and will continue to do so. It’s not easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is.”
I hope whatever is challenging you today you have the courage to stand up and face it. Try something new. Take yourself out of your comfort zone. Perhaps we’re not conquering the world today, but the bigger the challenges you face and go through, the more value you’ll gain when it’s behind you. Those experiences will prepare you for the next level. I put myself out in the wilderness to test myself and face unknown challenges. It doesn’t always go perfect but that is the learning curve and I usually end up in an amazing place to rest my head. Be adventurous and feed your soul. Challenge yourself to rise up and do what is necessary. Go forth and kick ass! 🏜⛺️🔥
I had no idea where I was going in the dark the night before. Down some dirt road that I knew ended at a cliff. Found some rocks, made camp. Woke up to this stunning view of Marble Canyon. AZ you are stunning. So much splendor. Every minute I took to pack for the unknown paid off. I was prepared and was the only one out in that valley. So peaceful and eerily quiet. Just completely unplugged. Reboot the system. Would you feel comfortable here alone? Would you be safe? I have been practicing better mindset and preparedness. Thanks @mike.a.glover @kurt_teamfieldcraft @mike_teamfieldcraft @addison_teamfieldcraft at @fieldcraftsurvival for the knowledge. “Like a snake sheds its skin, we are capable of getting rid of assembled habits, creating space to call matters into question. Instead of the Shakespearian " To be or not to be " we could favor " to become or not to become". By "becoming", we challenge the range of possibilities in our life and go beyond the merely "being". We can retreat, then, from the imprisonment of a deadly routine, acquire an identity and develop our personality.” :
( "Man without Qualities" )
Don’t wait for the situation to dictate your actions. Take control of the situation and bend it in a positive direction. Formulate a strategy and then execute your plan with discipline and persistence. Do what you know you must do. Soul search. Fight stagnation. Today I am making a list of things that I love doing vs the things I must do. My strategy is to sandwich those not so fun things between good things. To help keep my focus and positive energy flowing. If you feel like you have a mountain to climb, sprinkle in little things that make you happy. Those tough decisions won’t have time to get you down.. or down for too long. Stand up straight, eyes forward and keep on going. Remember everyone is going through something, try to show compassion for yourself and be kind to others. Love and light friends. #dilligent #stayinspired #betterthanyesterday #mindset #azgirl #nature_good #getoutside
A little long but here is an UPDATE: My last follow up with my surgeon went fantastic! I have great range of motion and am a little over a month away from being able to start back at life 100%. December 20th will be 6 full months since surgery. I am antsy and must be patient.
Transition is, I guess you could say interesting. I was chatting with my coach yesterday at the gym and was telling him what my doc said and his words not mine: "Now the real work begins." Now, it is time to begin a phase of "breaking the shell." That space in between what was comforting and easy vs. facing fears and failure. The only real failure here is failure to try. Transitioning back to a new path, an updated body, new thoughts, some fears to overcome and the real work is beginning. Start where you are. Fears are healthy as well, pushing yourself to the place out of your comfort zone, adding stressors gives an exact view of what is working and what I need to be patient to build up to. We all handle stressors different, we are living creatures that must work the path. Physical healing is a process and time is it's own character in the story. The soul is on its own timeline for healing. We must be able to overcome and work with these new emotions. The struggle is how we choose to handle it. Lessons that are presented repeatedly until we learn. Adapt and overcome. There is strength in failure, strength in fighting fears, strength in numbers. Focus in and find your flow. Remember it is never too late to start. Pressing on beyond the fear.

Beyond the Veil of Fear
In many situations, your understanding is closed by the veil of fear. You are afraid of the chaos. So, first of all, you have to overcome this fear. Then, as a second stage, you learn to go along with the fear, to go along with the energy. You do not struggle, but you try to find your state of mind in connection with this energy. You try to feel it intuitively. Trying to teach understanding verbally is rather difficult, like trying to teach someone verbally how to ride a bicycle. A person has to learn intuitively how to balance on a bicycle. Likewise, this process is intuitive.

I had the great pleasure of showing friends a couple jewels from Sedona yesterday. It’s amazing how perspective changes when you can see a place with new eyes. From talking about vegetation, geology, geography and weather.. AZ you never disappoint. Such splendor. You just never know what beauty the day brings unless you seize those moments. Stay humble and appreciate those little things. Today I am grateful that I have the physical abilities to lead the way on a hike. That friends gathered from Malta, Italy, UK and asked me to join on their holiday and mostly just having the day to spend precious time and share a meal and laughs with good humans. Every day offers new adventures. Look with new eyes when you feel like there is nothing presenting itself. Trust the process. Get outside and refuel the soul. #stayinspired #dilligent #betterthanyesterday #mindfulness #naturephotography #healing #girlsthathike #getyourmilesin #aztrails #sedona #azgirl
It’s been almost 5 months since I’ve had surgery. I finally was able to walk into the gym today and feel okay with my progress. I could have gone to the gym many times already, but I get in my own way about being able to lift and move precisely. Today I was mentally quiet, calm, and moved slow through the process of warming up my shoulder and back. It is humbling and powerful to walk through your own fire. To knock down your ego to make room for growth and compassion for yourself can sometimes be a tall order. But I showed up, and did work. I have been here before when I had my spinal fusion (4yrs now!) and I’ve come to realize that it doesn’t matter if it’s mental or physical, just doing something to keep you moving forward helps those bummer moments and being productive and confident in what you CAN do helps knock the doubt out. Just keep going. 2 surgeries in 4 years, my body and mindset constantly go through ebb and flow of positive and negative. Some days are good. Others not so good. Something that always bring me back to reality is the idea of falling down and getting back up. I hear more often than not “you have been injured so many times.” Maybe I have? What can I say.. living the life I choose comes with pitfalls. As I walked into the gym today, I put all my effort in moving slow and precise. Focusing the good energy on healing and my story that is unfolding. I have done the work to heal, now comes the work to get stability and strength. I rose from the ashes after spinal surgery and now I’m about to rise again. The 3.0 me. Shed the unwanted. Forged in the fire. I’m back. • #redefineyourworld #mindset #betterthanyesterday #riseaboveit #liberate

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy in life comes from our encounters with new experiences”-Christopher Johnson McCandless
