I think Dr Seuss said something about green rocks and horses. Pretty magical stuff. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Bermagui, New South Wales

Pretty desperate to get back into shooting seascapes, definitely going to need to make plans to see some new locations. In the meantime, here’s a few seascape togs that have inspired me lately: @rjmccarthy_ @mattyjameshopkins @logan_dibble123 @dalegphoto @benmazephoto @sam_markham_ β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Bingie

Last time I was here I got to play with a super friendly border collie all morning. There was no dogs here this morning, but at least the clouds did their pretty thing πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Eurobodalla, New South Wales, Australia

One of the most exciting parts about photographing @tasmania is the ever changing weather – in a matter of 10 minutes a stormy afternoon ended with a lovely pop of light and colour. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 6 stop + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Franklin Wharf

If you’re not a fan of colourful sunsets, Camel Rock is the place to go πŸ˜‚ what keeps me coming back is how much the landscape changes with every visit. I’ve never seen the tide this high this late in the day, and just a few months ago all of those foreground rocks were buried under sand. But hey, I’ll take moody seascapes any day of the week. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE 18mm f/9 0.6 sec ISO 100 @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Bermagui, New South Wales

How could you not enjoy waking up to mornings like this? It was great to share this spot that morning with @the._.nightwolf – it’s always a pleasure shooting with someone who gets just as excited about a good sunrise as you do. 🌞 β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE 22mm f/8 3.2 sec ISO 100 @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Mossy Point

Getting creative down at one of my favourite places. I’m not normally a fan of sky replacements, but I’ve had this image in my mind for a while and the files were there so why not? πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ For those wondering, this effect is done by slowly zooming in during your exposure of the Milky Way. I then blended it with some moonrise action from later that morning. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE 16mm f/2.8 13 sec (sky) and 92 sec (fg) ISO 3200 (sky) and ISO 1000 (fg) @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Bermagui, New South Wales

Finding amazing spots in your childhood backyard is only topped with skies like this 🀯 after a 10 minute argument with myself about which shoes I wanted to get wet, I managed to make it over at low tide without the need for a change of socks. Top that off with a @banjosbakery brekky and you sir have done @tasmania right! β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE 16mm f/10 2.5 sec ISO 100 @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Blackmans Bay, Tasmania

Lately I’ve been looking for inspiration in creative mediums other than photography to improve my work. I have to give credit where it’s due: for the past few weeks I have been super inspired by the music and words of @pogomix. I just watched Nick give a talk on β€˜simplicity is divinity’ which inspired me to edit this shot which I previously disregarded as β€˜too boring’. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE 18mm f/16 1/15 sec ISO 100 @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Tuross Head, New South Wales

This would have to be @australia’s most photogenic waterfall. I’m planning another photo tour of Victoria towards the end of the year, and I was desperate to visit this beast again to reshoot this composition at a wider angle. Turns out I have a bunch of shots with the exact composition in mind from the last trip that I just forgot to edit – thanks past-Jake! β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 FE 27mm f/11 0.6 sec ISO 100 @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Planet Earth

When I was planning my @tasmania trip, I was far more interested in checking out the local gems over the more β€œfamous” spots. These old wooden posts (which turned out to be rusty pylons, who knew) were at the top of my bucket list. While I was hoping for the usual burning clouds, I was more than happy to walk away with a moody long exposure. I even got a bit of cloudy action over the hills just before the rain bucketed down. On a side note, explaining landscape photography to a non-landscape photographer is weird. Telling my brother I spent my whole day looking for poles in water didn’t seem to impress him πŸ˜‚ β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE 23mm f/7.1 30 sec ISO 100 @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 6 stop + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Tasmania

The @sapphirecoastnsw is definitely the place to go for animal-shaped rocks. Even though the locals call it One Tree, I can’t unsee the fin 🦈 Was great to catch up with the crew for a chance to shoot some new locations, very thankful they even brought the good skies with them! @davey_rogers @johnnyjam1 @tscharke @phannanphoto β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE 16mm f/7.1 30 sec ISO 160 @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Cuttagee

If you only have one day to spend in @tasmania, I can’t recommend Mt Field enough. Such an amazing walk through lush scenery topped with this little beauty at the end (if you can’t be assed with the rest of the track.) Normally this place is pumping with water, but a lack of rainfall can lead to more intimate discoveries. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE 16mm f/11 0.4 sec ISO 400 @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL + 0.9 SG @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Mount Field National Park

I was warned that Tessellated Pavement at high tide would be a bit... uh, wet. When the dark clouds settled in I had no intention of shooting until I saw the brooding mist over the hills. I think @mattfinphotography would be proud of me standing my ground as the rain and waves were too much for my camera, being shut off mid-write. Don’t worry, a bit of air con fixes all πŸ˜‚ β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” @sonyalpha Ξ±7R II @sonyaustralia GM 16-35mm f/2.8 FE 16mm f/8 1/5 sec ISO 250 @nisifiltersaustralia Enhanced CPL @siruiaustralia W-2204 tripod with K-20x ball head β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” at Tessellated Pavement

The Wanaka tree of @tasmania – I wonder how much tourism Binalong Bay would lose if this tree ever fell down πŸ€” This shot was taken just as blue hour was settling in.
