BOSTON CELTICS SEASON PREVIEW: PART 1 STARTING LINEUP: PG: Kyrie Irving SG: Jaylen Brown SF: Gordon Hayward PF: Al Horford C: Aron Baynes CRUNCH TIME LINEUP PG: Kyrie Irving SG: Marcus Smart SF: Gordon Hayward PF: Marcus Morris C: Al Horford STRENGTHS: BRAD STEVENS: Since entering the league he has shown us that he is a top quality coach who can get the best out of every player on the roster. He is now facing his two biggest tests, managing the expectations of a win now team and trying to incorporate the isolation strengths of Irving into his ball moving offence. 2. SHARING THE BALL: Last season the Celtics finished fourth in assists, second in secondary assists and scored 61.6 of their 108 points per game off assists. The Celtics offensive system works when the ball is moving and Stevens will need the new additions to buy into his schemes if they are to get the most efficiency out of their offence. WEAKNESSES: LACK OF REBOUNDING: Last season the Celtics finished 25th in rebounding but Baynes should help that (10.3 per 36 minutes) as a starter. The Celtics issue will be when they go small with Horford at the 5 and Morris at the 4. Can they keep the likes of Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love, Hassan Whiteside off the offensive glass? 2. WHO IS THE FINISHER? Isaiah closed games better than any other player last season and the Celtics need to figure out if Kyrie or Hayward is will close games. In the last five minutes of games: Irving: 3.5 points, 1.5 plus/minus and 12 net rating Hayward: 2 points, .8 plus/ minus and 16.2 net rating

BOSTON CELTICS SEASON PREVIEW: PART 2 MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER: THE SG’S: BROWN OR SMART By the early discussion and games it looks like Brown will get the start at the 2. The Celtics need three things from the two position this season. A leader defensively who can guard the opponent's best guard, taking the pressure off Irving. Offensively they need to knock down the three ball to keep the defence honest and to be actively involved in the offence, if that be cutting or playmaking out of pick and rolls. Which ever one of these two that can actively contribute to these three parts of the game will be the Celtics most important player this season. OVER/UNDER: 56.5 We think the Celtics will be under 56 wins. My prediction is between 53-55 wins. POSSIBLE TRADE CANDIDATES: Marcus Smart: Might look to move him before the deadline if they don't want to pay the restricted free agent. Terry Rozier: If his shooting doesn't progress and there are spacing issues with the second unit, the C’s might move him to bring in another shooter. PREDICTED FINISH: 2nd-3rd

HOW GOOD IS IT HAVING BALL BACK? Some interesting talking points from the first four games: DENVER VS GSW: - Jokic handled the ball out of the high post and out around the three point line like Draymond Green would. - Jordan Bell looks like a steal at pick 38. His shot blocking and defence could see him get minites this season. TWOLVES VS LAKERS: - He only played 6 minutes but I was most impressed with Alex Caruso's feel for the game, vision and passing. CLIPPERS VS TORONTO: - Blake Griffin hit two catch and shoot threes and shot 4 times from three. The Clips offence run smoothly when Griffin gave the guards space to drive and create. - Teodosic offensive skills makes the Clips a must watch on league pass but as everyone predicted he was smoked defensively. Teodosic had trouble staying in front of his opponent and going over screens. What were your highlights from the first two days of play?

6

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS SEASON PREVIEW PART 2: MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER: JAE CROWDER If Crowder can contribute a 12-15 points per games shooting over 40% from three, it can open up a lot different line ups for Coach Lue. My guess is that he will spend a lot of time playing either the three or four and guarding the team's better players at those positions. The signing of Crowder might not be felt fully until a possible finals appearance were Lue will be able to play small lineups with Crowder at the 4 guarding KD and Lebron at the 5 defending Draymond Green. OVER/UNDER: 53.5 We think that they will be over 53.5 wins. Best case scenario 62 wins and worst case 55. POSSIBLE TRADE CANDIDATES: Iman Shumpert: can't see him logging many minutes this year and teams could make offers for him close to the deadline or the Cavs could look to dumb him using the 2nd round pick acquired in the Thomas/Irving trade to reduce their repeated tax bill. Kevin Love: if things do not go to plan with Love this season, the Cavs could look to move him close to the deadline for a forward who could could give a more even contribution. Jose Calderon: A salary dumb towards the end of the trade period. PREDICTED FINISH: 1st

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS SEASON PREVIEW PART 1: STARTING LINEUP: PG: Isaiah Thomas/Derrick Rose SG: Dwayne Wade SF: Lebron James PF: Kevin Love C: Tristan Thompson CRUNCH TIME LINEUP PG: Isaiah Thomas/ Dwayne Wade (until Thomas comes back I see Wade finishing games) SG: Kyle Korver/JR Smith (If JR is knocking down his shot, he will get these minutes) SF: Jae Crowder PF: Lebron James C: Tristian Thompson/ Kevin Love (games dependant) STRENGTHS: 1. SNIPERS: Korver (.475), Fry (.401), Crowder (.398), Thomas (.378), Love (.373) all shot over 37% from three last season. Pair them with the best point forward there is and the Cavs offence could be more deadly than last seasons. 2. ABILITY TO MATCH THE WARRIORS WHEN THEY GO SMALL Different lineups that the Cavs can now throw at the Warriors include: When the Warriors go Small: IT, Smith, Wade/Korver, Crowder, Lebron When they need instant offence: IT, Smith, Korver, Lebron, Love When they need to defend a lead: Smith, Crowder, Lebron, Green, Thompson WEAKNESSES: 1. GUARD DEFENCE: A combined defensive rating of 112, the three PG will need to show Lue and James that they can hang defensively if they are to get meaningful minutes against the leagues best teams. 2. CAN ISAIAH REDISCOVER HIS 2016-17 FORM? For the Cavs to be any chance of knocking off the Warriors, IT will need to find his feet quickly once his season commences. The Cavs will need his off ball offence and his willingness to fight over screens defensively to push the leagues best teams.

1

MIAMI HEAT SEASON PREVIEW PART 2: OVER/UNDER: 43.5 We will predict that Miami will finish just under 43.5 wins and finish with a record of around 41-43 wins. POSSIBLE TRADE CANDIDATES: Dion Waiters: if he continues to shoot the ball well, the Heat might want to cash in while his stock is high. Tyler Johnson: will be hard to move as he will be owed over 19 million dollars the next two seasons but could look to get him off the books to save paying the tax over the next two years. Goran Dragic: the Heat could look to cash in on a PG who could take a big statistical leap on the back of an easier run in the East. Justise Winslow: if he continues to struggle shooting the three ball, Miami will look to move him while he still has some value. PREDICTED FINISH: 4th-6th #nba #thisiswhyweplay #basketballneverstops #basketball4life #basket #ball #basketball #ballislife #ballin #and1 #Miami #miamiheat #heat #lalakers #laclippers #sanantoniospurs #houstonrockets #bostonceltics #chicagobulls #nyknicks #dubnation #clevelandcavaliers

With the season less than 30 days away we will be previewing each team’s season. MIAMI HEAT SEASON PREVIEW PART 1: STARTING LINEUP: PG: Goran Dragic SG: Josh Richardson/Dion Waiters (game dependant) SF: Rodney McGurder PF: Kelly Olynyk C: Hassan Whiteside CRUNCH TIME LINEUP PG: Goran Dragic SG: Dion Waiters SF: Wayne Ellington/Tyler Johnson PF: James Johnson C: Hassan Whiteside/Kelly Olynyk (games dependant) STRENGTHS: 1.ON BALL DEFENCE: Excluding Olynyk and Whiteside (out beyond the paint), every other Miami player in the rotation can hold up defensively and against the Cavs/Warriors, Miami can put lineups that are switchable and with strong on ball defenders from 1 to 4. 2. DEPTH AT EACH POSITION: Miami have a lot of depth at each position and there will not be a lot of deference in plus/minus between the starters and bench lineups. WEAKNESSES: 1.CREATORS OUTSIDE OF DRAGIC: Miami will have a lot of trouble trying to create offence when Dragic is sitting. Spo will be looking to Richardson, Johnson and Winslow to take on more of an offensive load. 2. WHO IS THE FINISHER? With no superstar, Miami don't have a offensive closer. Waiters thrived in the area last year on the back of some inflated shooting percentages but can't be relied on to continue his heroics MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER: DION WAITERS With no superstar on the roster, Waiters takes the role as alpha dog on this team. Only Okato White had a better plus/minus than Waiters and his impact when on the court was felt by Miami fans. Things seem to happen when he has the ball in his hands, especially down the stretch. An offensive rating of 105.7 in the last 5 minutes, Waiters is not scared of the big moment and the Heat will continue to look for him to seize the moment when he gets his chance. #nba #thisiswhyweplay #basketballneverstops #basketball4life #basket #ball #basketball #ballislife #ballin #and1 #Miami #miamiheat #heat #lalakers #laclippers #sanantoniospurs #houstonrockets #bostonceltics #chicagobulls #nyknicks #dubnation #clevelandcavaliers

TRUEHOOPSAUS TRADE GRADE PART 1: Now that the trade is official, we will break the trade down into three parts, winning for the now, later, the overall grade and what we liked/did not like about the trade. BOSTON CELTICS: Received: Kyrie Irving GRADE: NOW: C LONG TERM: C+ OVERALL: C WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS TRADE: 1. Irving has two years to run on his contract and at 25, his age aligns to the rest of the Celtics core in comparison to Thomas who is 30 and coming into a contract year. 2. Kyrie gives the Celtics a player who can be relied on to score in isolation and who can shoulder the offensive load. 3. Playing with passers like Horford and Hayward, takes away Irving’s need to be a playmaker on this team. WHAT I DO NOT LIKE ABOUT THIS DEAL: 1. No upgrade defensively, Irving is a lazy and overrated defender. 2. Irving fit into the Celtics moving offence. Kyrie is dominant in isolation and requires screens and room to work in. The Celtics prefer the ball moving from the high post with players like Horford facilitating. 3. The price for me was too high. On top of Thomas, Crowder is on one of the best value contracts in the league and the Brooklyn pick could fall any place in the top 10. This deal does not make the Celtics a better chance to beat their closes rivals in the Cavs until Lebron decides to leaves the East. Let us know your grade for the Celtics.

7

TRUEHOOPSAUS TRADE GRADE PART 2: CAVALIERS: RECEIVED: Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Brooklyn’s 2018 first round pick, 2020 second round pick. GRADE: NOW: A LATER: A OVERALL: A WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE DEAL: 1. With the most valuable contract is the NBA, Crowder’s fit with the Cavaliers will have Coach Lue contemplating line ups that he can use against the Warriors death line up. An accomplished three and D player, Crowder will allow Lue to play line ups with Thompson at centre and James at the other forward spot which will be switchable and versatile against the league’s best offences. 2. Isaiah Thomas’ ability to be the off the ball scorer that Irving isn’t will allows James at times to play point forward and take advantage of Thomas’ spot up shooting. 3. The Brooklyn first round pick is massive for the Cavaliers in two big ways: a. If James does leave at the end of this season the Cavs can use the pick to draft the franchises next stud. b. If James decides to stay they can flip the pick along with Love and reload for another tilt at gold. 4. Isaiah’s contract allows the Cavaliers to be more flexible come the end of the season. If James decides to run after the season, the Cavs can choose not to resign Thomas and try to rebuild the franchise with the Brooklyn pick. WHAT I DO NOT LIKE ABOUT THIS TRADE: 1. Thomas and his hips. The Cavs need Thomas to return fully fit if they are any chance of competing against the Warriors. Let us know your grades for both teams. Let us know your grade for the Cavs

TRUEHOOPSAUS TOP FIVE POINT GUARDS- PART 2 3. RUSSELL WESTBROOK TrueHoopAus ranking points: 67 31.6 PPG, 57.3 AST% (1st), 30.6 PER, 12.6 VORP (value over replacement player) (1st), 773.71 TPA (1st) MVP, All NBA first team, 2016 NBA All Star MVP, Scoring Champion, Bestbrook had the most dominant offensive season that I have ever witnessed. The OKC guard had a total point’s added total three times higher than any other player at this position. Why is he not at 1? He ranks the lowest amongst the guards in true shooting percentage, turnover percentage and assist/turnover ratio. CHRIS PAUL AND STEPHEN CURRY PAUL: TrueHoopAus ranking points: 69 46.8 AST% (3rd), 3.83 AST/TO ratio (1st), 26.2 PER (3rd), 5.3 VORP (3rd), 7.92 RPM (1st), 282.74 TPA (3rd) The best all round point guard in the league, Paul’s consistent across the season is unrivalled. The Houston guard at age 32 is the best passer and defender in the top 12. Expect Capela’s numbers to make a jump on the back of a few more Chris Paul alley-oops. CURRY: TrueHoopAus ranking points: 69 .625 TS% (2nd), 6.2 VORP (2nd), 7.41 RPM (2nd), 335.92 (2nd) Not given the credit that he deserve for leading the best team that we have seen this decade, Curry finds himself deservedly at the top. His shooting and shot creation is unmatched and his defence has improved at seen in the finals against the Cavaliers. Attached is the spreadsheet with all statistics and ratings https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CwYDMith3a2jb5tJ5-j4MDeHfDIDoxPSF6TYafZ99ew/pubhtml?gid=520415786&single=true #nba #thisiswhyweplay #basket #ball #basketball #ballin #ballislife #basketballneverstops #basketball4life #miamiheat #bostonceltics #isaiashthomas #memphisgrizzlies #chrispaul #lalakers #laclippers #houstonrockets #okcthunder #gswarriors #stephcurry

TRUEHOOPSAUS TOP FIVE POINT GUARDS- PART 1 How we came to our decision? We started with a top 12, each player was ranked 10-1 on each stat (10 being the best) which includes a judgement ranking (my own opinion). Players are then ranked from 1-12 depending on how many TrueHoopsAus ranking point that they get. 5. MIKE CONLEY TrueHoopsAus ranking points: 52 34.5 AST% (3rd amongst top 12 PG), 2.78 AST/TO Ratio (2nd), 208. 36 Total points added (TPA) (4th) A more industrious player than the rest of this class, Conley enters as the second best point guard statistical at either end of the court. In his most impressive season so far, Conley’s ability to continue to distribute the ball without turning over and impact on the defensive end are the main reasons why he beat out players like Wall, Irving and Lowry. 4. ISAIAH THOMAS TrueHoopsAus ranking points: 59 30.8 PPG (2nd), .625 TS% (1st), 26.5 PER (2nd) 242.58 TPA. Thomas had one of the most dominant offensive season by a player at their position. His ability to single handily pull his team to victory contributed to the Celtics out performing expectations and finishing with the best record in the East. In those last quarters, Thomas had an offensive rating of 125 and a true shooing percent of .65 in the last five minutes of games. #nba #thisiswhyweplay #basket #ball #basketball #ballin #ballislife #basketballneverstops #basketball4life #miamiheat #bostonceltics #isaiashthomas #memphisgrizzlies #lalakers #laclippers #houstonrockets #okcthunder #gswarriors #stephcurry

TRUEHOOPSAUS 2nd ANNUAL TOP 5 PLAYERS AT EACH POSITION We will be taking a look at the five players at each position over the next month. Rather than give you our opinion on each position, we have decided to use statistics to inform our decision. Starting with a top 12, each player will be ranked 10-1 on each stat (10 being the best) and then rank players from 1-12 depending on how many TrueHoopsAus ranking point that they get. With every group we will attach the spreadsheet so you can see the points breakdown. We will start tomorrow with the top 5 point guards Who do you think will be in the top 5? KYRIE TRADES PART 4: Alright Kyrie fans let's break down possible trade destinations for the Cleveland star. We are going to sort them into three categories: -Most likely to occur- trades that work for both teams. - Teams that would really like him but probably can't get it done. - Please, please, please make this happen! We will just discuss the player movement rather than the moving of picks which we can all assume will happen. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN! MILWAUKEE BUCKS CAVS RECEIVE Kris Middleton (14.1 mil) Jabri Parker (6.7 mil) BUCKS RECEIVE Kryie Irving (18 mil) You wouldn't be able to turn on Sports Centre without seeing another heart stopping highlight from Giannis and Irving. The trade is probably not going to make the Bucks better, but man it would be fun. The trade would work for the Cavs with Middleton a boarder line All Star when healthy, the only problem with the trade is Cleveland's willingness to take a gamble on Parkers knee. BOSTON CELTICS AND SUNS SUNS RECEIVE: Jalen Brown (5 mil) Jae Crowder (6.7 mil) Marcus Smart (4.5 mil) CAVS RECEIVE : Eric Bledsoe (14 mil) CELTICS RECEIVE: Kyrie Irving (18 mil) The good old EPSN trade machine has confirmed that this deal is actually possible. Irving, Thomas, Hayward, Horford and Baynes with Tatum, Morris, Rozier, Zizic backing them up. More suited the 2K, this team would rival the Warriors for offensive power but would struggle defensively with Thomas and Irving in the back court. We can dream though. Where do you see Irving landing?

KYRIE TRADES PART 3: Alright Kyrie fans let's break down possible trade destinations for the Cleveland star. We are going to sort them into three categories: -Most likely to occur- trades that work for both teams. - Teams that would really like him but probably can't get it done. - Please, please, please make this happen! We will just discuss the player movement rather than the moving of picks which we can all assume will happen. TEAMS WHO WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IRVING BUT PROBABLY CANT GET HIM: TIMBERWOLVES: CAVS RECEIVE: Gorgui Deng (14.1 mil) Andrew Wiggins (7.5 mil) Tyus Jones (1.4mil) TIMBERWOLVES RECIEVE: Kryie Irving (18 mil) Channing Frye (7.4 mil) Edy Tavares (1.4 mil) This would be interesting sending Wiggins back to the team that originally drafted him. Couldn't see Lebron ever agreeing to playing with Deng, too much of a liability offensively against the Warriors. SAN ANTONIO SPURS CAVS RECEIVE: Danny Green (10 mil) Patty Mills (11 mil) Davis Bertans (1.3 mil) SPURS RECEIVE: Kryie Irving (18 mil) Richard Jefferson (2.5 mil) This could theoretically work when Mills' no trade period is up and Irving is still stuck in Cleveland. Green and Mills would be starters on the Cavs and would make them an interesting defensive team. Really struggle to see this happening late in the season.

KYRIE TRADE PART 2 Alright Kyrie fans let's break down possible trade destinations for the Cleveland star. We are going to sort them into three categories: -Most likely to occur- trades that work for both teams. - Teams that would really like him but probably can't get it done. - Please, please, please make this happen! We will just discuss the player movement rather than the moving of picks which we can all assume will happen. MOST LIKELY TO OCCUR: (We are not going to include the Knicks in this conversation as Melo has stated that he will only sign with the Rockets) PHEONIX SUNS CAVS RECEIVE Eric Bledsoe (14.5 mil) T.J Warren (3.1 mil) PHEONIX RECEIVE: Kryie Irving (18 mil) Richard Jefferson (2.5 mil) Bledsoe is not the offensive beast that Irving is but he is a much better competitor at the defensive end. His strong body allows him to switch onto twos and threes and defend them at a reasonable rate. Warren is another decent three and D guy who can start or bolster the bench. Irving would be a nice fit on a young and upcoming team. Takes the ball out of Bookers hand and allows him to play the two. The Suns would instantly become a much watch league pass team with Irving having high flyers like Chriss, Jones and Jackson to throw lops too.

We will just discuss the player movement rather than the moving of picks which we can all assume will happen. MOST LIKELY TO OCCUR: (We are not going to include the Knicks in this conversation as Melo has stated that he will only sign with the Rockets) MIAMI HEAT CAVS RECEIVE: Goran Dragic (17 mil) Wayne Ellington (6.2 mil) Justice Winslow (2.7 mil) HEAT RECEIVE: Kyrie Irving (18 mil) Iman Shumpert (10 mil) Miami probably has the most assests that would help keep the Cavs at the top of the Eastern Conference. As well as the mentioned players, the Heat could offer Richardson, Bam or McGurder who can all help the Cavs defensively against the Warriors and provide some offence off the bench. If the trade was to go through the Cavs would want to get Shumpert off the books which Miami can do if Ellington is part of the deal. DENVER NUGGETS CAVS RECEIVE: Wilson Chandler (12 mil) Kenneth Faried (12.9 mil) Emmanuel Mudiay (3.3 mil) Gary Harris (2.5 mil) NUGGETS RECEIVE: Kyrie Irving (18 mil) Iman Shumpert (10.3 mil) Changing Frye (7.4 mil) I really like the fit of Mudiay and Harris on the Cavs. Mudiay would not have to be the primary ball handler playing with LeBron and if he can figure out his shot and shoot a defendable 35% from three he could be dangerous with his athletic gifts. Harris is a shots the ball well and is a good defender unlike Shumpert, Korver and Calderon. Harris could start at the two and move JR to a sixth man role to bolster the bench. A starting five of Mudiay, Harris, Lebron, Love and Thompson with a bench of Faried, Chandler (another player who can create his own shot), Jefferson, Calderon, Jeff Green and JR has more depth than the current roster. For the the Nuggets, a lineup of Irving, Murray, Hernangomez, Millsap and Jokic is very intriguing offensively.

WINNERS AND LOSERS FROM DAY 4 OF FREE AGENCY TIL NOW LOSERS 1. THE KINGS AND DAVE JOERGER. Signing three veterans (Randolph, Hill and Carter) doesn't make sense for were they are going as it will diminish the roles of players like Papgiannis, Fox, Skal, Giles and Jackson. Signing these three also takes up the majority of their cap space which won't allow them to be a dumbing ground for teams looking to get bad contracts of their cap and allowing the Kings to acquire more picks. Looks like Joerger is trying to save his job. 2. NEW YORK KNICKS Hardaway's 4 year 71 million dollar contract is the worst deal so far in free agency. One of my favourite players to watch but his production at that price doesn't match and the Knicks have definitely over evaluated him. 3. AVERY BRADLEY Feel for Bradley who has toughed it out throughout the rebuilding of this roster and will now not be there to be able to enjoy the good times. Playing in Detroit like rubbing salt into the wounds. 4. THE REMAINING FREE AGENTS With all contenting teams bar the Spurs being maxed out and most teams struggling to balance the books, the remaining free agents are going to find it hard to get the pay day that they might be looking for. #nba #thiswhyweplay #basketball #basket #ball #basketballneverstops #basketball4life #ballislife #ballin #and1 #slamdunk #miamiheat #miami #heat #jamesharden #houstonrockets #sacramentokings #la #laclippers #torontoraptors
