LAYOUT TIP for MAGAZINES ------------------------------------------- You can get more wildly creative when designing #magazine spreads. πŸ“–πŸ“˜ Treat the whole spread as single one piece of paper, divide it into thirds and then start designing. You should not necessarily have to stick to just portrait or landscape orientations. How about diagonals as in the example? ----------------------------------

I usually start by dividing my space into three parts and then filling it up with images and copy. ----------------------------------------- More tips on making great visuals - follow @visualexpert

Use lighter, thinner fonts to make your designs look more elegant, #feminine, a little carefree, dreamy or focused on details. If your main target audience is women, these kinds of fonts might work better than the bolder ones. The issue you should care about is visibility - these fonts tend to disappear in the surroundings - proper spacing around the copy and use of contrasting colors can help to bring it out. ------------------------- Follow me @visualexpert to get daily tips and tricks on visual communications. You can use visuals to IMITATE #SOUNDS we might imagine. For example, if your brand voice is regarded as pretty loud and noticeable, consider using larger font sizes. They are giving an impression of louder and more prominent communication. Something you can clearly hear from a distance. -------------------------------------------- Follow me @visualexpert for more daily tips on visual communication

LETTERS ------------------------------ You can make an impact with letter types as well. Use capital letters to achieve more authoritative feel. They are pretty intrusive, therefore more visible. These letters can attract attention. Usually, the main messages of the copy are written in capitals. We also associate #uppercase words as being loud. ----------------------------------- More tips on making GREAT visual content @visualexpert

LETTERS ----------------------------------------- You can make an impact with letter types as well. Use #lowercase letters extensively, if you need more organic and calm feeling. These letters are not obtrusive and people find them easy to read - mostly used in body copy. The downside to consider - they might not gain the desired attention. Take this into account when designing headlines or the main parts of the copy. -------------------------------- More tips on making GREAT visual content @visualexpert

Believe it or not, but there can be a difference if you align your copy to the top or bottom part of your visual. ALIGN BOTTOM if you need to make a more static feel. This can give a heavier impression as well. Consider bottom alignments for more traditional brands that have to communicate #stability and sense of security. --------------------------------- More tips on visual communication - follow me @visualexpert

There can be a difference if you align your copy to the top or bottom part of your visual. ALIGN TOP of you need to make a more dynamic feel. This can give a sense of confrontation as well. It would work very well for more youthful, modern and active visuals. --------------------------------- More tips on visual communication - follow me @visualexpert

TEXT ALIGNMENTS ------------------------------------------- Different alignments of the text can also impact the way audience percieves it. If you are looking for a formal look, go for the justified alignment. It gives an academic, regulated and even bureaucratic feel. It is not seen as something friendly, nor gives an impression of cooperation. That is why usually your scientific research paper styling guidelines call for justified alignments. :) --------------------------------- More tips and tricks on visual communication - @visualexpert
