Claire and Ryan stealing a moment before the chaos of reception, friends, and family, right as they leave the ceremony. Sweetest capture by @abbygracephoto. The umbrella may say ‘rainy and overcast,’ but that strapless ball gown and those layers of tulle point to spring. We are so close folks! Speaking of tulle... playing around with the idea of using as a backdrop for a flat lay—any wedding photographers tried this before with detail shots? Was the volume and material difficult to style? Worried about depth and placing lighter and heavier objects.
Millie sitting pretty, all dressed up for a walk down the aisle. Incorporating pups into one’s wedding seems more popular than ever these days, so when Baltimore rescue organization BARCS teamed up with local bloggers for a chic styled shoot at Patterson Park featuring a few pooches in need of a home, a bridal theme made sense. If you haven’t seen the adorable resulting photos, head to the blog! | Photography by: @mattierileyy at Patterson Park, Maryland
We’ll admit it: this cold cold weather threw us for a loop. Here we were thinking we’d gotten through the worst of it, and would be sipping mimosas (ahem👆🏻), toasting, and dining al fresco in no time... yeah looks like we’ve got a ways to go. Serves me right for pulling out the floral prints a month too early. Oh well—hot toddies it is 🙃 Cheers bishes🥂| Photograph: @alexandrafriendly
A familiar setting caught at just the right light. Golden hour on our National Mall is a top destination for wedding photos for a reason: with the reflecting pool stretching to the horizon, the Washington Monument, and the entire landscape blanketed in snow, these newlyweds got some undeniably awesome portraits. Fringe for the win! This jacket was such a superb choice for a snowy wedding. Cold weather can throw some brides for a loop, but not so for Nicholette Shannon, whose cozy fringe coat felt totally playful but also sophisticated enough to mark a special occasion. The fact that a last minute snow storm blanketed the ground in fluffy white banks of snow only added to the winter white effect. We’ve found that wedding attire always works best when it shows off a bride’s personal taste and makes her feel confident and collected—we’re getting serious inner beauty beams from this snap of Nicholette captured by @sarahcbradshaw | Hair & Makeup: @trestylemebar at The Mall (Washington DC)
A huge 👏🏼 YAS 👏🏼 to color! We’ve seen colorful wedding dresses before—lilac, pink, or even hand painted—but the gowns tend to fall on the pale/pastel spectrum. Not so for Meaghan’s dazzling malachite-green gown from Mac Duggal. Did you need as much help getting out the door this morning as we did? Grooms helping out their brides (carrying bouquets, bustlin dresses, even loaning jackets) are among our favorite subject matter, I can’t tell you how many times we’ve melted over a single telling photo like this one of Kevin and Stephanie. It’s not always the most breathtaking photo or even one that makes the magazine, but you just know that years later, it will be the one the couple looks back on with a chuckle. Because even with all the posing and presentation, a good photographer is looking for those revealing little moments in-between | photography: @abbygracephoto at Union Station, Washington D.C.
Poppy pink peonies are pretty perfect! Say that a few times fast. We also adore them paired up with verdant green and tonal red. This couple—Ella and William—weren’t looking for a traditional wedding venue for their quirky pink-and-blue wedding. They wanted a place where they could throw a “super-fun dance party” with enough tradition that their parents would be on board. (Because we all know weddings are really all about pleasing the fam.) They opted for Roofers Union and managed to pull off a modern industrial wedding that still felt, you know, warm and lovely. Perfect indeed. | photograph by: @lizstewartphoto at Roofers Union
Okay, okay, so we are suckers for a wedding dress with pockets! Especially one that manages to maintain the sophistication of this beautifully-tailored gown. Speaking of sophisticated... did you catch Wetherly and Jason’s wedding on the blog this week? These two eschewed tradition and went for a family-only ceremony—but afterwards invited their friends to the National Harbor for a party on a yacht. “Walking down the dock felt like walking down the aisle again” says Wetherly. Except this aisle had champagne at the end 🥂🙃 | photograph by: @dcphotog | gown: @carolinaherrera via @carinesbridal at National Harbor, Maryland
Sometimes we are all about the wedding gown shots, and this one hits the mark. That vivid blue couch, those beautiful prints and mirrors, and knockout bouquets by @hollychapple and @chicfloralsmd — it may have been a surprise wedding, but Dawn Crothers totally nailed it👌🏼Photography by @annerobert_ at Something Vintage Rentals
Surprise wedding? Why not? Dawn Crothers and Zach Baldwin of Something Vintage had the most colorful, boho, eclectic wedding we’ve seen in a while (would you expect anything less of the minds behind @smthingvintage? seriously) check out the uber-creative wedding with imagery from @annerobert_ on the blog today! at Something Vintage Rentals

Congrats to all the newly engaged couples out there who got more than flowers and chocolates for Valentine’s day 💍💍💍 we are looking forward to seeing all the spring engagement photos come cherry blossom season! Also, on the blog: this sweet couple who got engaged during a romantic valentines weekend getaway. They had hoped their May wedding would have perfect weather, but rain prevailed. Rather than be dismayed, they bought these pop-y pink umbrellas and made it a photo op! | photograph: @wolfcrestphoto at National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution

E-L-E-G-A-N-C-E. That’s all we were thinking about when we saw this beautiful Carolina Herrera-adorned bride! When you just can’t decide between dresses, you rock a CH gown for your wedding (which your tres adorable maid of honor ☝🏼 helped you pick out) and then switch to a sparkly Enaura for the reception to surprise your groom. Loving the clean silhouette and plunging neckline of Dana’s gorgeous CH gown, contrasted against the embroidery and beading of the Art Deco-vibes Enaura | photograph by @bonniesenphotography at Iron Gate Restaurant
Find your own magic... it’s out there. You can really feel the intimacy of this shot and her floral ensemble against the airy backdrop of pale blue waves makes for this beautiful, quieting effect. Gorgeous capture of Alex and Kiet by @em_blumberg
