Story #11: “Underneath it all” Skin & Hair & Seasons - how does it all connect? 🍃💧 To start off - for the record I do not sell any of this skin care products but I know where to find them 😉 What I really wanted to touch base here is at home care. With the summer being over and the nature is slowly transitioning us into the beautiful colors, we often forget the importance of our skin & body doing the same. And guess what? This applies to men as well! Have you ever noticed your scalp and face being a bit more dry in the winter? And oily in the summer? Truth is - you just have to find your true pair for the seasons. Just like hair - you want to moisturize a bit more during the months where the winter heat is just taking over our skin ready to crack it! In the picture is just a small combo of what I like to use on daily basis. The matte moisturizer kept me from shimmering in the summer and now - I’m ready for the winter glow with the daily serum. If you’re that one who’s never gotten a facial or had a dermatologist take a look, now is the time. Don’t wait to “find a remedy when it’s too late” - instead, maintain what you have! Let’s enjoy the beauty of our skin, hair and nails! ✨ at Nakao International

“Story #10” - Barber Salute 💈 “No matter where you are in the world, people equate “barber” with the distinctive “buzzing” sound that electric clippers make” - BARBinc News In the boomerang video posted I came across these clippers in our salon (still operating by the way!!) which made me reflect back on how the barbering tools advanced over time. Although I couldn't find much on this brand, I could tell you know they are a lot heavier than my current cordless Wahl haha In the second photo – you'll see what the manual clipper used to look like! The work alone you had to put in by continuing to move the handles all the time during the haircut! Pretty neat I say! “Manual clippers were invented between 1850 and 1890 by Nikola Bizumić, a Serbian barber.” - wikipedia This June I had a pleasure of being in Dave Diggs barbering class during Orlando Premiere where he shed a lot of light on moving forward and growing within your business as a barber and stylist. Aside from that made me think recently on how the barbering started in general. How the barbering evolved over the decades. So this story, I decided to hear from you guys! Barbers – what was your most memorable story when you knew that by picking up your tools is what you were meant to do? Are you a second or third generation in this business? And perhaps you still have tools from your grandfather you would love to share a photo of? Clients – do you remember as a child or even adult your first barber shop story? History repeats itself no doubt and all I can do is continue to learn from you all! ✨ at Nakao International

Story #9 “Love & Care” ✨ I seem to be two days late and a dollar short these days with the program, but it’s for good reasons 😉 Today I wanted to give a shout out to Alan and Michelle as well as to share a bittersweet story with you all - which isn’t about hair but an overall humanity. I want to dedicate this to a couple who found a connection not only for themselves but for their pet friend! Meet: Kami & Dobby! 🐶🐶 And their parents Michelle & Alan! I mentioned before that just being behind the chair - we as artists come across many professions, many characteristics, many events, lot of joy as well as grief in certain times. We aren’t made of stones and sometimes can’t help it but to find connection with our clients during their pride, joy and hurt. A short while back they lost their dog Artie during her surgery. Just like anyone with a heartbeat, Kami was missing her friend. When I tell you it was meant to be - is when a friend asked if they are interested in rescuing a stray pup. Dobby. It may not be the way you’d want to find one another but what are the odds that everyone just got along after first meet?! Dobby seemed to have gone through abuse, being tied up with a rope, may be even dragged, but she had a will to live. That will brought her to Alan and Michelle. She is now almost at her best and loves her new owners. While I haven’t had a chance to meet her just yet - I feel connected to this beautiful story. A story that shows nurture, love and dedication. I hope this makes your day as this made mine. Thank you to Michelle for allowing me to share this in hope this benefits others to find a good friend ✨ at Nakao International

"Story #8: Curl vs Color" 💙 To color or not to color the curls? I can't tell you how many questions I get when it comes to both. So I decided to post a bit about the fashion color journey for those with curiosity. In this photo collage - my curls are fully intact as my color! To answer the question - "YES!" you are absolutely able to have both! Now, just like everything else when it comes to chemicals there are few things to consider right before you dive into the rainbow of possibilities. 1) Health. How does this tie in with the color? For starters, if you are on any medication that may throw your PH balance off, this may affect the way lightener processes, the way color sticks and how long it will last. Thyroid is another reason to perhaps be mindful of as the hormonal imbalance can affect color process. On average, if you follow a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, consider your self a candidate! Remember, to always ask for a test strand to avoid any allergic reactions! 2) Maintenance. I know everyone is probably sick of me saying this word, but I will never stop! Ha Ha It is absolutely crucial to take care of your curls - whether you color them or not. Curls live off hydrating sources! Please consult with your stylist prior to ANY chemical service and see if any deep mask, treatment, haircut is needed prior to jumping into the color wheel. 3) After care. If you're going to spend over $200 on color service, why would you want to wash it down the drain with a generic store bought product??? Even if it kills me, I will continue to say PLEASE trust professional product for your after color service. It will elongate, condition and shine your color service a lot more than that generic brand. 4) No DIY. For the love of hair, please let a professional do it. Please don't fall for the "Oh, she'll do it for a lot less at home" - because in reality, you'll pay me a lot more for your reconstruction. On this note, I hope this will help to all those beautiful curls to not be afraid of shining through with a bit of pop when it comes to color! ✨ at Nakao International

“Story #7” Beauty! 🌿 Raise your hand (in this case tag the post), how many of us want to feel beautiful or handsome ALL the time??! Right?! We ALL do! 👋🏼 Feeling beautiful doesn’t just come from your visit to the salon. Don’t get me wrong - you WILL feel amazing just after the glorified shampoo and scalp massage. Nevertheless, don’t neglect the inner beauty that you bring to the chair! Don’t forget the mental state will make the same haircut and style look MUCH more appealing when your mind is right. ✨ I saw this post today at the gym “Sanity Not Vanity” (mind you, the past few years I’ve totally neglected this place), but I’m back on track! I’m back to creating my peace of mind by strengthening not only my body but my mind. I figured, why not remind you all beautiful souls that your mind, your creativity, your ethics is the most beautiful thing you can ever pass to everyone! Let it be your favorite dance class, your favorite sport, the walk with your dog, find the inner YOU to help you maximize your mental health! Keep on shining folks! ☀️ at Harris YMCA Kids & Families
